First visit to this thread today! Never noticed it as theres too much crap.
FF is really coming together now. Referring to the snaps: Those stills look weird . i love the rockets impact explosion, looks great! Referring to the video: Wow first impressions Brilliant. Perfect. love it! It's wried seeing the soldier hold the Rpg like that. I love the way he fiddles with it, like in TFC. I remember having my doubts about FF But not anymore. Ya, few things. The origin point of the rocket isn't final. Towards the end of alpha we'll be fixing things like that. Just makes sense to get all the models sorted before we tweak that type of thing.
And um, yeah. Carry on. |

I'd first like to start off by saying thank you to the devs for the wealth of information and leaked shots/vids of FF! I hope that every once in a while you guys will release some easter eggs to the forums because everyone who comes to these boards truly appreciates what each of you devs are doing for this mod.
I'd like to say a big inspiration for me even starting this thread was because I've been checking up with my other favorite HL2 mod Black Mesa. I go on there forums from time to time, to check up on things. One of the most interesting things on their forums is that the map makers will actually release some wips of their maps. For instance, they have a thread on the level 'Anomalous Materials,' and the mapper for that level showed off his design process - showing how it evolved from the HL1 version to what they have in their media section. This was very intriguing to me, as well as for the many other readers for their forums. This got me thinking: I know the dev team really wants to have shiny media releases (especially in the comments in regards to the news update where people whine about how 'FF team shows off another (insert model type), where are the ingame shots'). Their stance is clear as to why they reserve the polished material for media releases, because the potential base of people for this mod goes about 'judging a book by its cover' (for now at least). So I figured this mentality stops the devs from updating the media and news with concept art & unskinned models, etc. But what about the people that truly care for this mod (aka the actual base)? I know the majority of us on these forums tend to be ones that don't care if elements of the mod are polished enough for media release, we just like to look at whats going on because everything about Fortress Forever fascinates us. Even though things are still rough and not front page worthy, just getting a glimpse of things as soldiers firing their rocket launchers gets people excited. I hope that the dev team reads this and understands that while the majority of people not involved in these forums and those that don't come to this website unless there is a new news & media posting, the people on these forums do not fit and follow the same mentality. I think this thread is good evidence that despite things not being polished enough for a release, these pics and video mean as much to us as a front page update. We know things from the leaked media may change with the release of the game, but that doesn't stop us from enjoying wips and leaks. While the rest of the world could care less about a media update on concept art or an unskinned model, to the people of these forums leaks like that mean the world to us. |

Actually Sensai, i think you made a valid point there.
Theres alot of stuff that could be shown on the forums thats not interesting enough to be featured in a media update, i think we should show some more of it.
