so, is steam not set up to do incremental updates for mods? It seems odd to me that a source mod has to turn to a steam look alike in order to get incremental updates in steam.

No, STEAM won't do mods for legal reasons at the moment.

ff_palermo is the kind of map that makes me realise just HOW shit my own mapping work is :P

As someone who enjoyed the TFC version immensly, looking forward to actually playing it.

And trust me, signs don't help. There's ALWAYS some idiot who takes the flag the wrong way no matter how well a map is signposted, or how many people tell them were to go, etc. Some people just can't deal with anything other than two identical bases, I think :P

Do you have to? The 1.1 release thread actually said nothing about signing up for Crosus to be able to use it.

Peoples who downloaded via Crosus: did you actually sign up for it, or just click and go after install? That might have been the problem.
