Allow use of ff_bases?

I am a player of both FF and TF2. I really like the ff_bases map, and I was wondering: am I allowed to use this as a basis for a new map? It would be heavily changed, and I would specifically tag it as a map based off of this.

It's an official ff map which has had a fair few people work on it, myself being the last to rebuild it from redux's and some other old dev's design (cant remember who started it). Just to note that I wasn't the only one that worked on this map!

Personally I have no problem with you basing another map off this. There's nothing to stop you basing new maps of others, monkeydown_l (?) from tfc was monkey&sd2 put together.

It is nice that you asked, but I dont see any problems in taking heavy influence from maps you like!

Mmk. Anyone else?

btw: Elmo, are you the elmo in iG on gMod?

EDIT: Is it possible, Elmo, if I ask VERY NICELY, that I could have the original .vmf of ff_bases, because I am having trouble decompiling it? Please?

It would be for TF2. The bases for FF is really good as is right now. I just need to adjust for TF2-specific gameplay things, and to slightly modify the map's build.

Send a message via AIM to squeek.
The bases vmf is included with the game in the FortressForever/source/maps/ directory. Just make sure to give proper credit.

No problem here, and we'd love to see it. If you want a place to work on your beta maps for TF2 we host them for a number of people in the FF community (both TF2 and FF versions) at http://www.oldtimersclan.org, we look forward to seeing what you come up with. What would be nice is that if you put a billboard or two within the map to say that the map was based on an FF map, with our website address attached if you're willing.

Ya, I was planning on putting on a few group servers as a beta test, O-T was one of them.

Now I need help with Hammer. When I import the .vmf into Hammer, I get this:

Why?

Also, TF2 isn't showing up in the Source SDK main window as a game option. I have reset the configs, refreshed the configs, everything. Help!
