Will this community get priority before FF goes open beta?
Will the community here at fortress-forever.com get some kind of priority to test the game before you release it to the general public? I think that would be a great way to show your appreciation towards us! ( the ones who constantly whine and bitch for updates and videos )
Seriously... will we? A week or so for community members only would be great before you release it as a free-for-all beta, or whatever your plans may be. |

devs have mentioned that they plan on doing a tiered beta.
This means that they will first release a private beta to a few ppl (forumers or their own friends.. who knows), then they will slowly start opening the beta to more and more ppl until they finally release the bastard. |

I'd rather see a video of the trepids riding a rocket naked a la How I Leaned to Love The Bomb.
Seriously... who's to stop anybody in the 'favored community' from 'leaking' the beta out to some server where everybody could download it? I think if anyone of us gets it, everybody will get it. |

I think they should give the beta to one colour a week before the official release.

They should give the beta to people with maps in progress first.
You know, the people actually doing something for the community! |

I disagree on the forum bitchers getting priority.
The ones who are currently in clans with dev team people should get priority. FROM AN OBJECTIVE POINT OF VIEW OF COURSE.... |

Can't we just Release version 1? Does it really have to be called beta? The team is certainly big enough to pick up any serious bugs themselves. Betas are turnoff's download wise. Look at Dystopia.

Fo rizzle. I think it would be better just to keep the beta closed to the devs and they can fix up everything and make it something good for us guys to play. After all, I do believe they know whats good for us =D

Yeah... except to fix everything up and make it good for us they need to bring in other people.
By slowly expanding the beta, they can test the game from a variety of points of view, on a variety of equipment. So no MikeQuist, they can't release version 1, unless you want to play a potentially buggy game. EDIT: This was written before infinitums post... |

while there are plenty of devs working on FF... I am sure organizing playtests (where many ppl can show) and working on the mod is a bit much.
Adding ~50 players or something would allow for ppl to be playing and testing ff constantly. And it appears that each play test yields great results for them (as in bug hunting), eventualy you are gonna get bugs that only playing and hammering out the mod will reveal. I mean just look at any mod out there, there are always new bugs being found and new balance issues and what not. Releasing this mod pre closed beta sounds like a setup of releasing a bugged game that will turn ppl away from really giving it a chance. I say let some exploiters in the group and try and f everything up. |

ESAD!!!
<---xnarf PS: Mike Quist wasn't saying release the first version of the game to the public. he was saying, rename the first completely public "beta" "version 1" rather than "beta". Last edited by o_d3pth charge; 09-02-2006 at 08:30 PM. |

The first public release will be version 1.0. The betas will all be closed, although some of the testers will likely be people from the community (I sure hope so anyway! ) Edit: Damnit, WTF? I guess FT wins this round Last edited by o_nezumi; 09-03-2006 at 04:41 AM. |
