Calling all mappers

Hey mappers. I've got an idea for a TFC map that I've always wanted to see done. If there are any of you out there who would help me make my dreams come true, drop me an e-mail at Etzellsooprcow@gmail.com

It'd be great for TFC or FF, whichever you'd prefer. The only things I ask are for the flagroom I've planned to be implemented and updates/betas of the maps.

*MUST HAVE EXPERIENCE WITH BOTH ELEVATOR AND BUTTON ENTITIES!

I've got crappy MS-paint "drawrings" of my idears, which can be provided. Yar.

Thanks in advance, I greatly appreciate it.

As I have no skill with... anything, I won't be much of a help, besides basic concept and telling you that all of your ideas suck.
And, textures won't be needing much, as it's just a basic run-down industrial theme, with a few hints of life scattered around the outside of the base. Rather bleak, actually.

Upload the mspaint drawings and post them here so we can see if the layout is any good.

Sounds good to me, upload your concepts and I'll conside taking the project on. I know everything except custom textures, which I'll get if the SnarkPit ever gets back online.

Expect concepts to be up tomorrow afternoon. (I'd do it today, but I have work after school, which I'm leaving for soon.)

Since my flagroom is a... strange idea, there will be a provided readme.

All right, 1st things 1st. My MS Paint skills suck. I know. Meh.

Anyhow. The first thing you'll notice is that this map looks very offensive.

Flagroom:
-The flagroom is a series of trapdoors. There are some places that are solid, some that are gaps, but, the texture doesn't look as if there are any traps at all. (Bases_2k1 style invisible door.)
-There'll be a wall hanging somewhat low, at the mouth of the pit (right above the wall w/ ladders), as to deter concing straight to the flag, but not to make it totally impossible.
-The pit will have shallow water in it, deep enough to prevent fall damage, and possibly to help concers to get out.
-There'll be a few ladders, on each of the 3 walls, to climb back up and try again.
-The grey blotches that are in the Paint drawing of the pit are bridges.
-The FR is supposed to be a perfect square, so going from the sides doesn't give you any shortcuts.
-There's a button, and if/when the enemy presses it, the elevators come up for 15-30 seconds. Only the enemy can press it.
-If your team falls down an elevator shaft, the elevator comes up to catch you. (Hopefully fast enough so you don't take damage, maybe have the pit be deep enough so you take fall damage if you jump into it, but not if you just fall.)
-There's a relatively large square area in the back of the flag room, much bigger than the flag itself, so you can set up a D on the flag.

Now, to the battlements:
-The battlements are your typical battlements, with a respawn, sniper nest, cap point in the sniper nest, and a spiral staircase leading to the main floor. However, they do get a 1337 overhang. Yar.

Respawns:
-I didn't have an idea for a floor plan with these, mainly because I don't care what they look like.
-I want them to be linked by a teleporter, have a laser system inside that gives you full health, ammo, and armor, and then one nade bag.

Water:
-There's a yard, cut by water, with 2 basic bridges over it. Your call.
-The water leads to a hallway in the enemy base, exactly opposite the button.
-There are ladders leading out of the water, up into the yard, if you fall in and don't want to go through the water entrance.

Yard:
-The yard has pretty trees. Woo. Oh, it also helps the bridge pattern out a little. I want the yard to be big, so the snipers can actually snipe.
-The respawn area is "floating" off of the side of the base, with a support coming from the rest of the base, as I think that'd be cool and original. Especially if on the HL2 engine, to showcase the skyboxes. Yar.
-The water flows beneath the overhang, but maybe put a ledge there for the walkings? Your call.

Base layout:
-I want the bases to be mirror images of each other. Like, say the battlements spawn is on the right for the blues, I want it to be on the left for the reds. (From an overhead perspective.)

-Textures: Something industrial inside, with nice, earthy stuff for the outside. The textures on the bottom of the water could be sand, but, it's up to you.

Thanks a lot for agreeing to even look at my kooky ideas, and thanks again for reading this.
If you need to ask me something/beat me with a stick for having a shitty idea/tell me how 1337 my idea is/insert cruel things here, Just either PM me in IRC "Etzell|Sooprcow", AIM me at "Etzell Sooprcow" or e-mail me at "etzellsooprcow@gmail.com"

Here's a rough idea for the front base. I forgot to add a sniper's nest and a cap point. Do so wherever.
Here's a rough idea for the flagroom. The black squares represent elevator shafts.
Here's a rough overview of the map.

It is up to the "developing team" as to how you want to do it. The only things I am adament about is the flagroom and that overhang. I think it'd be awesome.

Decorate it, throw random pipes/trees/whatever you feel would add to the look, just PLEASE no physics props. After you get past the two things that I really want, the rest is up to you. Feel free to do as you wish.

I'd love to start as it seems you have a great idea as to how you want this map to look, however I can't form an adequate (sp?) picture in my mind, Just whip something up in paint.

Hmm... a basic yard, I suppose. Maybe with some jagged cliffs and whatnots. Like I said, something that snipers would enjoy, so something relatively large, with a small portion of it being the water.

Just learn to map yourself. The initial learning curve is steep, but you'll get the hang of it.
