I'm working on the skybox i.e. the map is one big leak right now.

let me clarify:

all the ones that aren't visible AND
*are not completely covered by other world-brush-sides
*aren't touching the void

But even if you count those out there's still a lot of faces that require nodraws to have an optimal rendering, especially with lots of func_details and multiple background layers.

That's a lot of work just to get, essentially, a copy of a prop I already have, it's an extra thing for the engine to load, it's an extra thing to zip into the map and increase the maps file size, and I don't know how to use max.

I'm actually not bothering to use any props in the skybox, unless someone gets around to making me a cactus modell. Then they can make me the 1/16th version if they want.
