...Restart as in... reboot?
That takes like 2 minutes. Just reboot and see what happens. |

If all you want to open is Add/remove programs, try clicking start then type "control appwiz.cpl" no quotes.
-Icculus {FYC} *EDIT* Might want to check windowsupdate.microsoft.com as well to see if there are any updates available. |

If restarting doesn't fix it, you're most likely infected.

I think he meant "Reinstall" when he said "restart".

Similar to what Icculus said:
http://en.kioskea.net/faq/sujet-465-...-control-panel Try that. Also, did you try your friend, "Google?" Because if you had, you'd have found that page. |

Well, 1) I use Vista, so I probably wouldn't have given that advice.
And 2) If you "beat me" to saying it after a month, I'm really, REALLY slow on the draw. |

With computer turned off - Insert DOS floppy boot disk - start computer
Type fdisk - hit enter key Delete non-dos partition - I think its #4 Restart type in - fdisk /mbr - hit enter key Type fdisk again - hit enter key Create primary DOS partition - and use all of the available space - I think its the first option - make the partition active Insert windows XP install CD - remove DOS start up disk Restart computer, when prompted if you want to install Windows XP hit the matching key to say "Yes". XP is light weight, has a small foot print and is battle hardened through years of security patches. Vista offers nothing but problems. So I am going to pay for an OS that uses 2X the resources and runs slower then the one I am using right now? I dont think so. Last edited by ~kev~; 12-18-2008 at 04:43 PM. |
