My boss who is 30 or so watches Avatar all the time. One day at work they were having a marathon of the first season and I decided to watch it. The first few episodes didn't really catch me because I didn't understand what was going on. After that I picked up on the storyline and loved it. It is certainly a show you have to watch a few episodes of before you judge it. I really wish there were alternate versions that were more "mature". The show itself isn't really "kiddy" but there is plenty of room for more anger and violence which I think would spice it up.

I quite enjoyed the fighting. Usually you get magic-oriented combat and it's like certain spell after certain spell, whereas this is like... whoosh fire, whoosh water, whoosh fire, whoosh water, big pillar of flame, giant wall of ice, etc., etc. Much more fluid. I didn't describe it well.

Plus, there's no annoying, lengthy "dramatic" pauses, and they don't yell out their attacks

If that first clip is the one I thinking I loved that one. It is one of the coolest fights even though it really isn't a fight.
**Edit I thought the clip was longer so I didn't watch it before I posted. It is the one I was thinking of. |

yeah, that was a great fight scene
I love how Kitara and Sokka have both matured over the last half of the season. It's good to see Sokka getting to -do- more, too... since he's not a 'bender he seems weak compared to the others, but he's also very smart and rapidly getting tougher and more mature. |
