I hope it turns out to be nothing more than a big storm. A big Hurricane is the LAST thing you guys need on the Gulf Coast...

I hate to say it...but it looks to be trekking right that direction...unfortunately New Orleans isn't prepared to handle it again...maybe this time though people will actually leave when a Cat. 3 storm is on their doorstep...
Don't forget about Hanna out in the Atlantic...it's supposed to make a hard left turn towards the Georgia/SC coast early next week... |

You know, i get tired of hearing about Katrina this Katrina that, Katrina wasnt the only fucking hurricane to hit louisiana and wasnt the worse. Only thing that makes it so big is the damn levee's. Hurricane Rita was a cat. 5 when it made landfall on the texas/louisiana border, Sabine.

Well, I hope it doesn't hit me. I am in Tampa. Most of the time, the hurricane approaches and realizes "Oh Tampa, They suck!", and then turns.

Almost like building a sand castle right next to the water at the beach. Then crying when the waves destroy it.

here in jacksonville, we usually get the "jacksonville sucks, go to South Carolina!" storms.
But yeah, I was worried more than most about Fay, I could envision it hovering on the east coast of the state, sucking up warm water and feeding the convection current. One thing to look for in the doppler radar of these storms is what they call "eye wall replacement" where the eye becomes sectioned off from the storm by a new "eye" and then the previous eye walls will be absorbed into the surrounding cloud cover. This process happens in storms with winds of greater than 12 mph, and will happen several times in category 3+ storms. |

I don't know. These storms with macho names aren't hitting. Watch the next hurricane have a wimpy name and end up being some massive beast that obliterates Florida. LOL

Woah, GambiT! Didn't know you lived in Baton Rouge!
I live on the west bank about 10 miles away from New Orleans in a town called Waggaman. Usually flooding isn't a problem here, and my parents haven't decided whether or not we will evacuate to the north shore of Lake Ponchartrain. Hurricanes like this usually switch up their path before landfall, so I should expect a hurricane party again around my neighborhood (just like Hurricane Lily & Ivan). By the way, it's starting to look like it'll hit closer to Baton Rouge than New Orleans. Again, hurricanes like this usually switch up paths last-minute anyway so... we can only wait a few days to really know.

To anyone still in New Orleans when it hits Monday...wtf were you thinking? |
