[PORT]surf_skyworld

I created a lua for surfing a few months ago and it never was used and recently I saw some interest in surfing. This is a port of one of the first and still popular surfing maps from CS:S. It's a fun freestyle map that any skill level should be able to accomplish.

Mostly this is to get FF surfing started and it includes my base_surf.lua for your use.

Tried it, but I need a tutorial on how to surf properly because I can't finish it - not enough momentum to reach the last platform D=

nice to see fun maps around, but that respaw is frecked u need to build more respaws, and at a highter level cuse im always getting stuck in the ground at the respaw and with other plp on top of me :P gonna play it again now brb : )

All of the spawns are above ground and there are 12 per side. I never got stuck

EDIT: Never mind, looks like the further back spawns are in the little ramps, but you can jump out of the ground luckily.

Surfing 101
Get a running start:
-run up to the edge and jump off to get some momentum
Never use forward or backward keys while on the "wave"
Strafe towards the ramp (strafe right when on left side of ramp and vice versa)
Aim your mouse away from the ramp while surfing to gain speed or go down
Aim your mouse towards the ramp to go up or slow down
You generally want to make a curve aiming away and back towards the ramp to get the most speed.
Flicking your mouse towards the ramp at the end of a surf will get you a lot of air, but can be overdone easily.

My lua sets airaccelerate to 100 by default when playing surf maps, FYI.

indeed. I used to know Rinkon, who made a lot of very nice surf maps for CS such as surf_simpsons, surf_journey, surf_temple_of_toon, and may more. Surfing was mad fun. We now need a surf_water-run port, as well as a surf_ninja port, and although those are very easy surf maps, those were the most fun.

My personal favorite was surf mindspin because of the house at the end of the map.

Hah me and hlstriker(another member here) run a TFC surf server and I have probably played all of those maps more than I can count. It also records speed runs which I usually hold 100% of.

Also, I was wanting to originally port water-run, but it's much harder porting HL1 to Source.

In CS, I can beat water-run in 28 seconds.
