Quick FFDS Question

[CMD]

I only have experience running a TFC Dedicated Server.

I run it on its own, stand alone Windows PC.

Server start resides at C:\HLDS\tfc\hlds.exe

Does Fortress Forever run in the same manner?

It does not appear that it does.

What's the difference?

I have read the installation instructions but can't locate the game .exe

Thanks. I've done what the Source Dedicated Server instructions tell me to do.

I've installed and now run hldsupdatetool and it appears to be stuck at:

Checking bootstrapper version . . . . .
With the cursor blinking below it.

So it doesn't look like it is downloading a newer version.

Also, (once I get past this issue) what do I use in the command line for Fortress Forever, just "FF"?

I've made a FF linux installation manual which can be found here. It describes the steps you will need to take in order to install a Fortress-Forever server!

you need to set the command line to run

hldsupdatetool -command update -game hl2mp -dir C:\srcds

C:\srcds is what ever drive and directory you have created.

then you DL and install the FortressForever 2.2 server full then 2.3 server update (which can be found here) to the same folder you installed hl2mp to.

The command line will be -game fortressforever

And Rawh he stated it was a windows server. Linux is real similar but some of the commands have a different name for the hlds update tool you tool.

I created a folder C:\SRCDS

I installed and ran hldsupdatetool in that folder.

So now I'm going to install Fortress Forever 2.2 Server files to that folder as well as the 2.3 Patch Files. Right?

Then run the hldsupdate tool using "-game fortressforever"

Is that correct?

Okay, I performed the above as I describe and I believe it came out okay.

However, during the update it gave me this information>>>>>>>>
and there's no mention of fortressforever anywhere even though it indicates the hlds is up to date. Is all okay? I don't see an executable file to start the sever in the SRCDS\Fortress Forever folder?

FortressForever isn't available through steam yet. Did you create a .bat file for FortressForever? If not here is a copy of mine. Put it in your c:/srcds folder. then click it and your server should start.

I must be missing something as there is no srcds.exe in the folder.

I'm lost. Sorry to be a llama.
