Concerned about Double Jumping
Having seen the video I have to say things are looking good except one thing concerns me.
Double Jumping. Not. A. Good. Idea. The reason is that bunny hopping is one of the most ugly looking and annoying parts of deathmatch, team fortress or any FPS online game I can think of. Allowing people to jump even higher and further is just wrong on so many levels because its practically giving bunny jumpers a licence to go crazy. In none of your videos did anyone go hopping around but you can be sure it'll happen once you go Live. Please keep FF as rabbit free as possible, stick people to the ground and keep the airborne antics restricted to conc-jumping and rocket-jumping. |

yeah, it's pretty overpowered (hwguy flying around for instance) but i'm pretty sure it's going to be tuned down.

Its completely unrelated to bunnyhopping.
It requires subsequently higher surfaces to pull off a double jump. It's funny you say so confidently it's overpowered having not even played with it. You can jump whenever you want in super mario bros, why should everyone be rooted to the ground in a modern FPS? If appropriate disadvantages are there for people who 'rabbit hop', then it will be something you can counter fine. But just because something "is annoying" (without provided justification) to you personally does not cause any reason to restrict gameplay and movement possibilities. |

just in case you're talking about what i said i'm not saying bhop or double jumping should be removed, i like them both.
i'm just saying that it's true i haven't played it but the hwguy directly accessing that ledge to the elevator room in 2fort felt way too easy and powerful.. i mean if even the hwguy can do that what's the point of having walkways there ? of course it's a completely uneducated impression, i'm sure other people feel differently |

double jumping is pretty much the same as trimping (from what I understand).
In that video, the distance from the bottom ramp to the elevator walkway isn't really that much. I think it will be fine. |

Its probably the new thing I'm most looking forward to in FF. Its gonna add a much-needed extra dimension to both offy and def movement and the dev team would be crackers to take it out. Which, I guess, is why they aren't....

and come to think of it i like the idea of the jumps adds a bit of a challenge for the Defencive teams plus it makes some of the heaver classes that bit more manoverable (yeah i cant spell so sue me) lol |

Bunny hopping is absolutely vital to the success of FF, but wait a minute, are you saying BH or trimping should be removed?

Let me guess, yazmo posted something about hacks?
But anyways, bhopping has been included in FF as a feature, not an exploit of game mechanics. Its being tweaked and adjusted all the time and it is not the unlimited bhop that many people attribute to TFC (just like I used to.) For example, a bhopping fatty can't outrun a scout who is not bhopping. I don't want to give too much away but it is far more forgiving than bhopping in TFC. |
