[o-t] Imposter (The Torch)
We banned a guy this past week who has said he's going to wear the [o-t] tag in other servers to try and give our clan a bad name. His exact words were:
Quote:
He's already tried to connect to our server with the tag, so it's fairly credible that he's going to be a dick in other servers. Sorry for the inconvience of this kid. Scuzzy

If any of your members that play on any of the [AE] servers want tag protection I can set that up for you.
1- add [o-t] to bad_names.ini . 2- add their steam id with admin flag "a" to admins.cfg.

He was playing as "gr illogically" as in you copy-pasted that, or that was from memory? If it was a C&P then [O-T] isn't the only thing he's impersonating.

If tu played any games, ever, he'd probably find banning anyone impersonating a clan member to be a pretty common rule.
But tu does not play games.

in a pub? no. only unless he got into a leauge match maybe. only real reason to ever ban in any game is cheating. and no im not talking by noob ot admins either. i am talking by people that actually know what they talking about. top tier leauge admins etc... edit close 2nd might be racism but thats more of a preference though. |

Answers to your specific question: Why do you filter language in a violent video game? If you have any additional questions about that being an oxymoron afterwards feel free to post them, we love adding information to the FAQ to resolve questions about the policy. The more questions that aren't already answered the better. In truth we do not ask people not to swear while playing the game, we just ask they do not transmit it over our server.

I'm probably going off-topic and I apologize for that, but the curiosity is too big: why "jesus" is a filtered word in the [o-t] servers? (And IIRC, "god" is too?). I've been slayed due to typing "jesus" after getting killed by a mass of SGs in aardvark, and people looked as surprised as me for that slay, which doesn't seem to break any rule explained in the FAQ (or I overlooked it). In that situation, "jesus" was used in place of "omg, there's a SG fortress here!", which I don't think it breaks any rule either.
Thanks and sorry again for the off-topicness. I would have asked in a PM but pretty much everyone on the server was like "wtf" after knowing the status of the word, so I guess it's better as a forum post. |
