Surveillance Cameras
Is anyone here using a surveillance camera?
My supervisor asked to see if we could get 2 surveillance cameras. One to watch the front door and one to watch the back door. Maybe something that can plug into an ethernet cable? I thought about using a webcam with a motion sensor. But I would like the recorded video to be saved on a server that is locked in the server room. It would not do any good if the thief could steal the PC, along with the videos. We do not have wireless here at the office. So a wireless surveillance camera would not be an option. |

Panasonic has some simple small systems that provide you with cameras that can plug into an existing ethernet run, or run wireless to a base station designed for the cameras to connect to which then go back to a small DVR and depending on how much storage you put in there it will record video for a certain amount of time.

perhaps your server could do a periodic backup of the last 28 days or so to a colo?
