shutdown (1)

Len has started working on shutdown (the first one).

Len has created a simple version without detail and it does look very promising to become a good map for FF.

We realize that in tfc it was a bit too easy to defend. But we feel that FF is more attack orientated and that should go a long way in fixing that issue. We would however like hear your thoughts on this.

And also would be interested in hearing any other suggestions you might have as to how to improve sd_l.

The intention is to create a fully highly detailed map.

:O nice. I always loved this map in TFC. I can't wait to see the completed version.

You picked an odd looking map to remake, but it is pretty fun.

1) If I had a few suggestions I'd say make the tight halls wider (enough that 2 could squeeze through).

2) The yard could use a slight redesign. I might recommend side entries into the base instead of just one main doorway which would discourage front door spam/potshots.

3) I'd just clean up the lines and theme on the map. Maps like smooth and schtop are sexy. Shutdown needs a face lift and a liposuction.

I think the strongest designs in the map are the capture room, the button room, and the flag room... and the ramp slide leading to the button room always proved fun. Those are things I wouldn't touch much.

I've never played Shutdown (1). I'm looking forward to trying it out.

Well you could defend the ramp room by spamming the doorway, which also TKd all your offy trying to get out. (not helped by the gren bag inside RR!)

You could defend the spiral by spamming down it since it was so narrow.

The security was further away than flag room, which is a bit backwards, and led to people defending security. (Soldier sat in the doorway, engineer build SG in sec room, then 1 guy in ramp room spamming the doorway and 1 guy top ramps spamming spiral / rr doorways

Water entrance was fairly useless as it didnt bypass much of the defense.

Flags were basically capped in about 10 seconds if you got it out of security unless you could get enough mirvs on it for 60 seconds, since the flag room was like right next to the front door.

.. although i did like the way you could hide in teh flag room. =]

Maybe just swap the flag position and the security switch.

That would actually be pretty interesting, swapping the flag and security places. Maybe even adding another entry into the FR or something.
