Farcry 2

Anyone played it yet?

Played it on my mates machine which is lucky enough to run it all on highest settings. Graphics are obviously good, but what do you think of the gameplay?

Tbh, it seems like a FPS version of GTA in the jungle. Alot of repetitiveness and trecking around in a car, but I havnt played it for long enough to come up with a full review yet.

Anyone else?

I figured that it'd become repeptive sooner or later. Either way, I'm not playing this, or crysis, until I get a computer that can take em.

I'm assuming it will take no longer than 9 months, actually. Keyword: Intel Nehalem. I'm waiting for prices to drop, any issues to be worked out and possibly 32nm architecture, or at least a board that supports it.

Money is not the issue, I just don't want to pay more than I need to, for something bleeding-edge.

i dont understand why it's farcry 2 when it's a different guy, different settings, and different engine.

Because a different engine means it can't be a sequel.

Ask the same of the Resident Evil series. Then, when the answer is obvious, wonder why you asked such a question.

ok, ignore the different engine part. different settings, different guy didnt go away

it's not like RE just kinda did away with the whole zombie thing. FC2 got rid of the cool sci-fi story

Same reason Quake II was Quake II, probably - coming up with a unique name for an FPS is hard goddamn work. They already owned Far Cry, so why not?

i never played the first, and theres no way in fuck my computer could handle it, even probably at its low settings. my only other option is to get it for ps3, and im not about to be fucked into paying $60 to play an FPS that probably even that great aside from the graphics on a fucking controller.

Just some FYI...

I run the game on the highest possible settings and still get tearing. If you can run FF you can run this.

To compare, I get about 125 FPS in FF on average (upwards of 800 when looking at walls and what not).

In FC2 I get 125 FPS on average.

Both on the highest settings.

The engine runs really well.

That's amazing when you consider what Crysis likely would have done to your system.

Farcry 2 is good. Smuggling diamonds and shooting up entire forts with your sniper rifle while proned in the bushes is fun.

My roommate's got it for the 360. Very pretty game, I love the fire. Set brushfires to distract and smoke out your enemies, very fun. Also the mortar is fantastic.

24 inc monitor (to show that I'm not really bottlenecking very much)

Runs things that utilize SLI very well.

Ha, you should try playing FF on a 47" widescreen monitor/hdtv at like 1920xSomething absurd.

I still manage about 45 fps with that resolution
