Hl2 error.

When I click on the icon I go to a blank black screen. I go to the task manager and it says it is not responding. It gives me a HL2 error. I thought maybe if I went into the server viewer I clicked on a sever. I got in game, chose my class but it froze and gave me a HL2 error.

EDIT: I can run CS:S and other source mods, it's just FF D:

Verify your sdk base game integrity. Got to steam/games/tools right click sdk base properties/localfiles/ verify integrity of tool cache.

K, did that, still crashes

EDIT: any chance a reinstall would work?

There is always a chance reinstall will work but before you do check this link out. It will run a check for conflicts between your system and steam. Sometimes it helps others not.

OK I went to that. I pass everything. I don't get why it just stopped working all of the sudden though. I mean I've changed nothing since then.

Make a back up copy of anything you want to keep like maps material ect. you config.cfg or any special class configs and try reinstalling.

OK I backed up maps, cfg, anything else that I would need?

EDIT: OK I reinstalled, moved my configs and map back in. AND IT STILL DOESN'T WORK. You can't jsu ttake my favorite game away form me computer you just can't

EDIT: Reinstalled drivers and still nothing.

I tried helping him reinstall his video card drivers and that didn't help either.

Any help is appreciated guys, jordan loves his FF and if he can't play, then I won't have anyone to follow around and join servers with

So far list of things s I have tried is:

Restarting steam
Restarting Computer
Reinstalling FF
Reinstalling drivers
Restarting computer again
Restarting steam a few more times
Reinstalling Source SDK base

Lets see I had an oral for to prepare for which was supposed to be today but now its next Tuesday which is good. So yeah I hadn't played since around lunch on Saturday I can't think of anything that has changed since then though. I don't remember downloading anything really. Try running with -nosound in the command line.

Doubt it'll help but it's worth a try if you haven't already.

Well ok

3GHz AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual-Core
3GB RAM
Nvidia GeForce 6150 SE graphics, 128MB dedicated graphics memory.

And yeah I'm a smart fucker too but not when it comes to this

Also so does source not support dual core? Also I get about ~20fps (as low as 8 on some maps) while playing and thats on 1024x768 (my monitor should be 1920x1200 but my graphics card can't handle that.) I've been told I should be able to get more though. But anyway probably should worry about getting the game to work again first :P

Oh yeah forgot to mention I've tried that too and windowed mode but it didn't help. Also circ what was you avatar before it was the nice woman?

I'm sure you did but did you uninstall FF the reinstall SDK Base and Then FF?

I'm shooting things out there now.

I used to have a readeon 9550 and it and Steam were temper mental bitch's.

I had to install the vid card then update the drivers then install the game.

But your issue if I understand right is different. The game was working then crash HL2 error.
