capturing a flag is just silly and unrealistic in a modern battlefield. realism and gravity is what TF2 is all about.

The article doesn't say that there will be no grenades for the other classes. It only said: "There won’t exist normal grenades. Valve doesn’t want a sameness of all classes."

With normal grenades I suppose they mean frag grenades, which - in TFC - almost every class has. There could still be different grenades for more or less classes, like mirv (demoman), conc grenade (scout), napalm grenade (pyro), frag & nail grenade (soldier), gas grenade (spy), emp (engineer). These are just examples, and I remember reading somewhere that there won't be emps for the engineer. But we'll see in a few months or whenever.

No EMPs would be highly disappointing. Best defense an engy's got IMO

Besides, there's nothing more satisfying than gibbing a clusterfuck of sollys jamming their way through a small hallway

no EMP for the engy would be new to me. haven't read anything bout it yet. but I agree that removing normal grenades doesn't mean that their won't be grens at all. eg the demoman could get frag grenades when the scout can drop a flashbang.. anyway this is nothing more than speculation at this point. we'll have to wait and see but it sounds interesting!

edit: I'd like to point out that nobody should take this preview to serious. PC Action is a shit magazine in germany. wouldn't surprise me when they interpreted lots of stuff like the medic 10s invulnerability just wrong. but it's interesting to see that valve seams to prefer leaking "exclusive" information bout TF2 in germany. not the first time and not that it bothers me^^

The over hyped game by John Romero? Same thing as TF2, its over hyped, years late, changed engines at least once.

If, and that is a BIG "IF" TF2 is ever released, it will be like Daikatana - a DUD. Its going to go , psft, the fuse burned, and that was it, no "BANG."

I have been on the TF2 bandwagon for 9 years, that is too long. about 8 months ago, I made up my mind, instead of talking about when it comes out, my position is, TF2 is NEVER coming out.

i mean in matches, of course i would abide to the rules that are laid down but seriously how ridiculous are some of the rules (no sniper, or whatever else)

it's a shame that only few of the classes are used ( may be used according to certain rules) in tfc competition

I think Valve has been rethinking it really well (afaik they have done some nice things before so I have confidence)

as it looks on paper valve will make tfc more richer by making the diffrent classes and teamplay more necessary part of the gameplay

only a few classes are used?

most of the classes are used in competetive play except for pyro and sniper

sniper doesnt fit the rules and no one, competetive or not, plays pyro unless it's a gimmick

I wonder about allowing console and PC players to play together. Wouldn't the issue of crap analog stick controls be considered "technical"? Or are they just going to apply such a huge level of auto-aim it won't be much of a problem?

Also, will this mean scripting is totally locked? It would be pretty unfair if the PC players could use lots of scripts, but the console players could not.

Still, autoaim really doesn't help all that much in a game like TF where a lot of the weapons are projectile based.

The scripting issue is something I really hadn't thought of. Also, what about custom maps for users on consoles?

It'll be interesting to see just what happens.

If it really works out like that, I'm sure people would tend to hook up a mouse and keyboard to their xbox or whatever instead of sticking with the controller.

you can't, microsoft won't allow any keyboard/mouse addons for 360
ps3 does though
