You can't be on the fence with net neutrality. You're either for it or you're an idiot.

See, right now, I have the same power as Walmart on the internet. My personal website could get fucking big without me having to pay a dime to anyone. That's net neutrality. Without it, the internet becomes just another TV where all you see is car and shampoo ads.
It's like, big companies pay money so that their web site gets some kind of advantage like top ranking in google and larger bandwidth while the little people with personal websites get blocked and no one can find them anymore and their bandwidth is restricted enough to piss the users cause websites too slow. Something like that. |

It's actualyl packet priority, which are the little nuggets of information whizzing around on the internet. The two ways they can fuck us over is by a) shrinking the size of allowable packets and b) not allowing more than a specified amount of packets to be recieved within a certain amount of time

Or maybe it's just one of 3 fucking dev journal posted in the last week, and has information pertaining to things gamers care about.
Not that a fuckwad idiot such as yourself would have the common sense to realize that |

Yeah that's the whole thing. ISPs will over 'Packet-Sizing' packages that will undoubtedly cost more to gamers, voip users and movie streamers, just because they need larger (AKA today's standard) packets to use these programs effectively.

ISPs... Seems I'm always having trouble with them.
My internet is so fucking slow and I'm paying the full price for high speed 3Mbits. It's been like that for months and all they have to say is that it's not their fault, it's the phone line company's fault. Of course I tried to call everyone and give them shit but nothing's moving. The funniest thing is that I switched to DSL because my high speed cable became fucking slow and they kept saying it was because of my location and that the only way to fix that would be to move. So I switched to DSL, and it was going fast again. Then 1 year later, BAM, biggest slow down ever and it never came back to how it was before. Now of course I don't want to switch back to cable again just to find out that it's still slow as hell. I don't have much options left, exept to move. LOL! yeah... |

hahah you'd become crazy here.
I did a speed report online and compared to other users of the same ISP in my region, I get 20% of their speed on download and upload was at 60%. So like, instead of going at 350k/80k I'm going 70k/60k. On top of that, servers where I used to ping 25ms are now at 110ms. Positive effect on my life* > I don't play online anymore. CS:S sucks when everyone in the server ping 30 and your at 110. I wish it would fix itself so I could play FF online and be able to compete but I doubt it will. It's been like that for at least 8-10 months now. |

I could try to call the cable company and check it out with them. They got new services with even higher speeds.
cable 7Mbps is 39$/month but it's not unlimited and the limit is 20gb lol... not enough for me. cable 10Mbps is 65$/month unlimited. So I could try to go for 10Mbps and ask them to check if my speed will be alright or not but hey, right now I'm paying 30$ for unlimited 3mbps and that would be perfect if it could work normaly. 65$+tx is a little too much and anyways I only got 7 months left in Montreal and it's a 12 months contract so I'm fucked anyways. I'm just gonna have to keep the same shitty DSL. I get good speed between 3am and 10am so hopefully I'll find some ppl to play with during the night. About satellite, I heard it's crap. |

The problem with satellite is that it's downstream only and gaming isn't about downloading a constant stream of pretty pictures. Unless it's called Phantasmagoria, but that's an oollld story I'd rather not recall.
Satellite would be useful if normal peeps were allowed satellite transmitters, but currently that would cause at the very least the FBI to show up and arrest you on suspicion of being a member of "El Kaeder". Obviously this depends on your country but I think nearly all (that have the resources to care) don't allow it. |
