i beg to differ on the unorthodox strat comment. strats like these only work if the person(s) running that strat are physically and mentally capable of working outside the box as a team. so usually the people who are stuck on the 2v2 mentality end up failing because 2v2'ing isn't true team fortress. therefore, the unorthodox strat will not work so i can see what you're saying hoopa

No one 2v2's on dropdown. what is true team fortress? What is a 2v2 mentality? Physically and mentally capable? You mean finger weights and shit? But yea I got you, an unorthodox strat can occasionally work with the right people. My teams ran a few in tfc. Sniper D on high flag for the win. All button D on some maps ftw, all FD D, etc. They can be made to work, but not so much an O engi on dropdown.

Depends on SG placement. An O engy can keep the FR free of SG's if there is an SG there. Further, it can take out pipetraps that are placed anywhere in the room, except in the VERY VERY MIDDLE from outside of the room.

lol see that was the problem...we practiced with an Sg not against a demo so when the flag ended up in the middle of the room (90% of the time) then we were pretty much SOL cause it just wasn't something any of us assumed would happen.

Like I said I think everyone had fun, but you kinda ruin the fun when you bicker like school girls after the fact. Just admit you enjoyed the match and STFU!

I like running unorthodox strats, it keeps things interesting. Sure not all of them work, and not all of them work for different teams or maps. But atleast you can say "we tried it".

This is why I hope the leagues don't come out with a huge list of rules and restrictions.

If a team wants to run 3 FD HW's on monkey let em I say. See if they can do it, if it doesn't they'll pay the price eventually anyways.

There is never one best possible strat for everyone, because everyone has different skill sets.

Siden for example is a very fast map, and you usually only really see medic's and scouts running O on it. But I got fed up with something in a pickup match the other day and switched to spy. Sure it's a slower class and you might not think there's many opportunities because of the choke points. But defenders move and go down all the time there. I was able to sab an sg, and get about 3 relays to the T because they just ignored me when the flag was in the yard. Nobody came back to flag room.

Congestus was another example, we were getting raped and one of our guys switched to pyro (a class deamed useless in pickups), and the pyro broke apart their defense and we started making caps.

I like all the options for different strats, it's cool, and I seriously hope they don't make stupid rules that limit anything. Because in a sense isn't the "best team" the team that can overcome any obstacle? The ones that make adjustments on the fly and find the weaknesses in their enemy's strat. Not the teams that can beat your standard defense/offense over and over.

i honestly think KBN will win tommorow....KBN is pretty solid on D and if sYn doesn have an offense they are gonna have a tough time....especially on a defensive map like drop down...we shall see tho
