That's an abandoned variant. It's closer to the original design but way more groovy now.

it might take some getting used to for me, im used to it being so powerful that the nails stick into the concrete. which would explain the power of a headshot. but since they bounce off walls, to me that means the power has weakened.

dunno

It bounces. Ask Boogie, he hates it. Mainly because I use it to pull headshots on him while he's sniping. booyah!

Hrmm, if memory serves, I thought the original engies carried a nail gun? if not then what exactly is a "rail"? and how do you load it?

I am not the knowing I guess because I never really wondered that much until now. (when you get older you become more thorough in your research)

so:
A railgun is a form of gun that converts electrical energy (rather than the more conventional chemical energy from an explosive propellant) into projectile kinetic energy. It is not to be confused with a coilgun (Gauss gun). Rail guns use the magnetic pressure force to drive a projectile. Unlike gas pressure guns, rail guns are not limited by the speed of sound in a compressed gas, so they are capable of accelerating projectiles to extremely high speeds (many thousand meters per second).
