designating maps to a mapper or something

just an idea, maybe stupid but maybe not. how about the mappers willing to do maps for the community create a thread, lets say, i would create one for me "GambiT's Maps" or something. in the first post keep it up to date with a list of maps i'm doing/planning on doing/or requested that i do. a couple of reasons for this would be:

1.) allow the community to request a certain individual to make a map, maybe they like his/her style of mapping.the mapper can say "yea i'll do it" and add it to his list, or "no" and then that person can ask somebody else.i'd rather them ask in a few threads than keep posting new threads on map requests.

2.) the mappers that put themselves out there for this can have 1 thread featuring several maps being done or will be done, and can have links in the first post pointing to that maps thread.

example:
redgiant-99%-"link to redgiant thread"
hollow-0%-"link to hollow thread"
acropolis2-5%-"link to acropolis2 thread"

then requested maps would be listed under the maps i'm working on.

3.) i think it would kinda help neaten up the forum, i see far to many "request" threads, this would be one way to neaten it other than in the "map request" thread that nobody seems to use.

4.) would centralize maps being made, it would be up to the mapper to update the first post as they want to, and would allow the community to check the progress of a bunch of maps in one thread rather than checking a bunch of threads.

this does not void the use or need for the "map request" thread, thats still the best place for the community to see whats been requested and request a map. if anything this would be best to ask a certain individual to do a map.

i hope you understand what i mean...this was just a thought that crossed my mind and kinda rushed this post..

I like the idea...would be cool. About the "Map Request Thread," I thought that was supposed to be a thread that was linking to the individual requests like the Community Map Releases - DL here Thread.

If so I will try to jump into that thread and edit the OP when I have sometime, but definitely keep this idea I think it would be really cool!

Adding onto that it also might be a good idea to make an "Active Mappers" thread. Mappers could then post a reply with their name, and resume if you will. Plus will alleviate the problem of not knowing who is / isn't still mapping.
