anti-jump mod? Question.

I've been in 3 seperate pubs that have had some sort of anti-jumping mod or setting. After seven jumps in a row, it cripples all further jumps after that unless you stop jumping for second and walk. And by cripple I mean..slam you into the ground like gravity was just trippled. You can not jump higher than half a jump. It would do this when bhopping or even just jumping in place.

Anyways, my question is: What is this mod or setting?
I can't seem to find any information about it, ty.

It sounds like Detox Anticheat's anti-speedhack but I thought it kicked in at 5 bhops not 7 and not for simple jumping so it might be a different one. I'd like to find out what it is too.

Ultra noobs. Anti-bhop people are hopeless. While they're playing why not practice it too? Like Ihmhi it is part of the game now and pi*s. These types of players I guess are NOT too bright.

In my opinion, high & far speeds should be dealth with. The bunny hops are not so bad as I thought they would be. With the rockets, grenades & Conc grenades you can jump way too high and way too far. Thus, makes it a little bit cheap in some maps.

I wish people would get with the times now.... Bunnyhop is not a cheat nor an exploit in FF - it's part of the game mechanics

The distances are easily dealt with per map. Of course a concjump will be more effective on a small yard in a wide open map. Make obstacles and enclose the bases, that negates the effectiveness of it. Concs and rjumps are there to give you an alternative to DM'ing your way through everything and everyone. Otherwise you end up with the TF2 midmap slugfests because everyone has to cross the same bridge to get to the badguys.

I hope there is a way for the devs to break plugins like this somehow. Perhaps make it impossible to screw around with variables like this in the server code?

I am all for customizing servers but not on core things that affect movement and gameplay. You want 67 Quake sounds, fine. You want to break a large portion of the movement system? Not fine.

Sad.

I can understand the thinking behind breaking TFC movement (whilst being highly against doing so) but this is just not on. :/

Man okay, this explains a lot. I wasn't sure why some servers that I joined after a few jumps it'd feel like I was being tripped after every other.

This plugin doesn't make any sense. Bhopping doesn't even increase your speed all that much lol. And it takes long enough to kick in that it doesn't effect any maintaining speed jumps after a conc, by the time I start getting tripped I've already slowed down to the point that it's not hindering me anymore. I normally jump for any simple movement and this is where this feature is more annoying than effective. Jumping across the plank in sd2 has caused my death because it's tripped me off.

These people who are running this obviously don't know anything about FF, are choosing to keep their same tfc settings (which is impossible) and should just go back to tfc.

All these extra modifications are seriously ruining this game. Even these class limit servers are stupid too, it's frustrating to join a server that allows 4 sentries, but only 2 spys.

I'll be staying clear of these servers now that I know what's going on.

Cheers,
Hammock

A list of these servers would be useful. Can you post them?

As much as I'd hate to ruin someone's server (which they are paying for, no less), that would be a good idea. Once they remove the plugin, they get off the list. Simple as that.

I'll list the servers for the sole purpose of testing the anti-jump mod on and do not condone the mocking of these servers nor am I trying to start a fight with them.

These Three servers have this mod or setting, im not sure if its on purpose or came bundled with some sort of anti-script plugin or not. After spawning... 7-8 jumps should be enough to start seeing the effect.

*Whaa bitch tits, your servers were listed here!*

I have tried talking with a few admins within some of the servers, but none can tell me anything useful about whats going on.

On your own server, you'd have a point. On MY servers, it is. You might as well complain about the color of my car or house.

Ask them to run the command:
detox_version

To see if it's Detox Anticheat. If it is then detox_sh = 1 and if they disable the speedhack protection (why would they? ) by setting it to 0, then bhop should work again. The next version of detox is supposed to have even more variables for bhop blocking.

I'm not against people bhopping their brains out on other servers, just not mine. YMMV.

EDIT:
I just checked one of those servers listed, remotely, it is running Detox Anticheat. If those admins WANT bhop on FF, they need to add:
detox_sh 0
to their config or execute it via console or rcon.

No. You can't say it was an exploit when it was purposefully built into the game. That's like saying that winning a round in CS by killing the enemy team (instead of bombing/defusing or rescuing hostages) is a game exploit.
The game was made for bhop, get over it.

On my server, I can say anything I want. If you don't like it, you can run your own server however you like.

It's blocked on my server, get over it...and yourself.

You can say it, but that doesn't make it factual, which is exactly what I was pointing out.
