My feelings:
I enjoyed the maps, I think they look very proffesional and generally there aren't any problems on them. There's a few glitches and bugs but that's to be expected. Now having played both TF2 and FF I can hand on heart say that I probably prefer TF2, however I definaltly feel that the two can co-exist quite comfortably. The HWguys gun from long range seemed a little over powered and I don't know if i've got better but I had an easy time with the sniper rifle... sniping people left right and center. Also good job on the spy you've got it spot on (although disguising is a little fiddily imo) |

I would have to say its an extremely solid release. I played for 2 hours last night, on well, crossover, hunted and cornfield, and it was very good. Movement is much better than in tfc, and the finish of it all, the ui and concept seems very refined and well thought over.
That this mod is free and DoD:S isnt is beyond me, but im happy with it |

OMG. Better then I hoped for.
Maps are totally recognizable but yet look so much more impressive. First time i saw time and space itself being distorted I was like WTF was that. They told me it was from a conc. The whole corner of the building on Hunted just looked like it was being sucked into a black hole. The water is very cool. I like how you can customize the weapon sprites. Totally amazing, there is no way TF2 will beat this for you guys gave us TFC2. Great work. |

It's very TFC rather than QWTF (my preferred brand of Fortress), but I still enjoyed myself. The one change I would make is the flag capture Fortress Points bonus - seems too high for me and discourages assists and defending. But overall, well done. Still going to have to try TF2 tho

Hey! the mod is awe inspiring.
I played and my first impressions are: 1. the door opens badly in the spawnrooms 2. the medkit, singleshotgun have no real animations 3. It's too fast, all run too fast. In TFC you never run fast like this. Sometimes it's really anoyying, because it's harder to aim on the enemy while he runs. 4. The map dustbowl is rofl-amazing, really amazing. 5. Weird sound on the shotgun. Like.. no power.. 6. Possibly to make shadows for every player class to drop on ground? Like in CS Source. 7. It's really TFC on Hl2. 8. wtf was the problem with playing on 2fort? There's no map lol. 9. The decals, logos, and other shit is amazing. For example in dustbowl.. 10. It's balanced, but the spy, you can actually see him cloacking even if he is not on your team. If you go very closely and nearby him you can see the clocking field. 11. the boat in arvark is amazing. well, FF. YES. |

I could only manage to get one map in last night and it was shutdown2.. I like it.
I only tried soldier and there is a bit more in prediction than used to be in tfc. THe rockets fire a lil slower out of the launcher which might at 1st fool you for prediction. It felt bulkier that other stuff I've been playing (I don't mean that as a bad negative tho ) Overall I liked it and lookforward to a few more hours this weekend. Well done to the FF team in the mod and for the fact that they managed to get it out before the weekend and a whole weekend before TF2 (which I've pre-loaded ) |

First I played as sniper on crossover and I gotta say it's alot harder than in TFC. It requires greater accuracy and prediction, but I probably also have to get used to animations and moving speed and whatnot. The headshots rock btw.
Spy is kickass, I have never really played in pro-leagues but I can imagine the spy being much more useful now. Also the cloack is like feign-death v2. Not only do you drop 'dead', you can now actually get away with it. Knifing is also 'harder' to do, you actually have to hit them in the back now ( or at least for now :P ). Haven't really gotten to sabotaging turrets, but there is something I did notice. If you disguise as an enemy and run around in front of an nme turret it will ignore you, but once you cloack(still in nme disguise) you'll get shot. Personally I think this is a good thing, but I found it a bit akward at first. Also when trying to sabotage a sentry I sometimes accidentally enable my cloack... and the rest you can probably guess. Anyway, it's fun figuring out how the game works and reacts to your actions. So far I've had one hell of a time, that's for sure |

Bind a key to sabotage, that way you won't misjudge using the Radial menu
sentrysabotage - Places sabotage unit on Sentry Gun dispensersabotage - Places sabotage unit on Dispenser http://www.fortress-forever.com/foru...ad.php?t=10618 |

Ya, I just read the thread, gonna do that as soon as I'm home, thanks
Edit: Is there a way to disable the mouse pointer in the 'command menu' for the spy, so you can still aim and shoot with the menu open? There was one in TFC, but does it work for FF/Hl2? Last edited by v3rtigo; 09-14-2007 at 09:20 AM. |

I've played a lot more today, maybe 6 hours or so and I haven't crashed once. The only annoying bugs are the scoreboard / frags not displaying properly and the respawning at a 45 degree angle. Other stuff like missing animations and miscellaneous options I expect will be fixed for the next patch.
All in all an extremely fun and solid first release; with a few tweaks and fixes it will be the best team fortress game yet. |

The game's everything i planned it to be. I love the movement feel. Fluid and shit.
Maps are gorgeous. I can actualy play this crap on my P4 3ghz radeon9600xt 512 ram Hepefully the new scoreboard system will bring some extra teamplay to the pubs. TFC is kinda gay nowdays.. p.s Admins, no bots please till the next couple of decades. Thank you. |

Does anyone else run out of ammo often? I pick up bags every time I spawn but it feels like the ammo cap for pretty much everything has been halved or quartered from TFC.

Nice balancing of the HW and Sg, brilliant job on getting out such a stable and smooth build. I totally boned with the AC yesterday, and yeah struggled to find ammo cos i was riding the top of the heat bar constantly

I've thoroughly enjoyed it so far, I've played all the classes and classes I didn't really play much in tfc (sniper, pyro, demo) are more fun to play now.
Would like to see more original maps, ff_aardvark is great and the other maps are great too but I've played them a lot before. The detpack needs a much bigger sound! |
