Its mainly the 'pretty graphics' that drive in most audiences, take crysis for example.
The game is beautiful, srsly, its fun too, but theres one thing.
Requirements.
The game is a lag fest because of the harsh graphics processing and large levels, but that didnt stop a lot of people from playing it.
Hell, ill admit, it was a fun game, but when things got intense it got frustratign with the low fps.
But hell, when i got mad and quit, i went and played FF

To piggy-back a little on Ruta's commentary on TF2...I think he explains it well. Valve was really responsible in its development, and yes, we all should have expected to be a different game. Hell, TFC managed to gain their sponsorship, so I had good hopes for the sequel, which BACK THEN, it was going to be "TF2: Brotherhood of Arms" where the class system looked familiar to Castle Wolf MP. I just CAN'T BELIEVE TF2 went in the direction it did. I would rather have it head towards Wolf than where it already went.

Oh, and there's nothing wrong with you age 30+ gamers! As long as you live a responsible, balanced life, you can't go wrong to delve into video gaming. Why, I will be 30+ someday playing games, and as long as I am able and living!!!

haha the reason i thought it was funny that you apologized to dr satan is that i always razz him about editing posts (i call him dr edit behind his back )

I concur!

I enjoy every action-packed moment of FF, because there's always players who want to play HARD! I haven't gotten such intense deathmatch play since I played UT99 with medium-to-hard bots!

But just one more thing...I'm not a fan of elitism. There's a difference between elitist and elite. For the latter, we've been playing Team Fortress as long as anyone can remember, and we know the game in and out!

We're all ELITES, but that doesn't have to make us ELITISTS, and you can sure as hell quote me on that!

well...

As far as my .02 go...
I play the game now and again just as a break from TF2.
It's nice to be able to play a game that doesn't take 5 minutes to load up the next map(512mb ram ).

The problem I have with it is that it's too fast. It's too "deathmatch"y.
I don't see how it's fun to have people conc themselves across the map all the time. Fast-paced = Fast-strategy. It's rare to see a medic or scout actually "run" somewhere.

I think all of you TFC players should go try TF1 sometime. I guess that's what I miss. That was the kind of team strategy I loved. I had more fun playing that game than any other since.

The only scoreboard that should matter is the team's scoreboard.

But once in a while it's nice to stray from the team dynamic and go on a heroic solo ramapage, and kill as many as you can before you die.
And also, conc'ing as i've recently discovered and capturing the flag by narrowly escaping too soldiers is instant adrenaline + gratification, it actually feels GOOD to do it

Concing and bunnyhopping actually MADE the game interesting. Taking those things out would make the whole game very linear. In TFC whole strategies were just possible due to the fact that conc jumping exists. Putting the key to the gas chamber on Rock2 would have been impossible without concs (1st conc from the water through the window to reach the upper level of the enemy yard, 2nd conc with the key across the yard).

I'm glad that FF still has those features otherwise FF would be, imho, plain boring. TF2 isn't better, it's just better published since the developers had a huge budget for that. TF2-players probably will never move to FF since it's a different game experience.

I've stopped playing FF as a whole. I find TF2 much funnier. There, I said it. Now go ahead and flame me. Seriously.. people always have to bring up massive FF versus TF2 discussions, and have to tell about how valve has betrayed the TF genre by making that oh so horrible game.
