I'm $190 short of the $1500 computer I'm putting together. Once that's out of the way, no more 'my computer is burning' excuse. Also I'll be able to compile any map in under 80 seconds, and my manhood (in the physical and metaphorical sense) will double in size.

compiling maps all depends on optimization, you know. if you have good func_detail, areaportals, etc, it'll take 8 seconds for VVIS. if you have shit optmiziation, it takes forever.

Personally, I would play if more people played more and that's probably the biggest problem. The lack of regular, full pubs require people to find a server and if no one is one that, they won't join. Wouldn't be suprised if a 100 people were just looking at where to join, but won't, because nobody is actually in a server.

I might play more (and by more I mean once every week or so) if, like the guy above me said, more people would play. I hate looking for a server when most are empty, private, or only have 3-4 people in them. When I double click the FF icon I want to play now and not sit around in a server waiting for 1-2 people to join every 10 minutes. It's 2008, we want instant gratification!

I just don't see why people would bother playing FF over TF2. I just think some people hate change, like the CS 1.6 players who despise CS:S. The rest just prefer the game over TF2 or haven't bought TF2.....yet

I guess most of us (and me) are spoiled & superficial who like a relatively bug free game, nice graphics, cheap gameplay mechanics like achievements and unlockables, and ........................ 2 FORT.

I'm fairly certain that when the new version comes out there will be a decent boom in the player base. But I guarantee my soul, me steam account, and 2 jars of oatmeal cookies (which mean more to me than my soul) that it will end up at the same player base size it is now. I hope not. But I'm sure it will be true.

Nice graphics? NICE GRAPHICS? I'm sorry, but Quake TF and TFC did NOT have nice graphics, or achevements. I mean, it was, cap the flag and kill anyone who tries to stop you. Not "Oooo, look at the pretty water. Oh, I like that SG. That's a nice SG." I don't need my game lagged by pretty stuff unless I want to see it, like in a single player game.

And bug free? Sorry man, TF2 has bugs, otherwise you wouldn't see the list of bug updates everytime it's updated. Don't give me that crap. /thread

What're ya gonna do?? People have jobs and kids and school and all that..The only thing you can do is go and play. I found that the longer im on a server, the more people come. There is also the pickup channel. But, thats pretty intense and if you're not prepared, you'll get majorly owned in there..lol sometimes you dont want the embarrasement of getting owned..lol Then there is the issue of actual playing time. There's only so much you can do in one day of a week or two hours in a day. I think that some folks (and im speaking strictly for myself), thats all the time they can put in. I truly wish i could put more time in, but things happen so its not possible..i play when i can..

What I was trying to say that (for me at least) there is no jolt.co.uk 2fort 24/7 server where I would usually go for my share of mindless carnage. Everbody just does whatever he or she pleases and the variation in players and their skills only keeps things interesting. That son of a bitch sniper that keeps killing me, that rj-ing soldier that keeps blowing up our snipers, grenadejumping to the enemy sniper deck as a spy... good stuff. TBH, I can't be arsed to sit in an empty server and wait for an hour before 6 people have gathered. I want to get in the action right away, and without clan style.
