Comeback?

Hi,
I read these forums today, and its been a while I played TFC!
I dont even have the HL game anymore, ( so i am about to buy it again, if needed)

I played TFC for years from the start untill 2003) ( the days when BAD and SSK, From belgium were number 1 and when SHS and DW were topclans in Europe) but never this version. Stil worried since I see there are not alot of European players anymore ( I am from Belgium)

Any reason why I should come back? Is there any hope left to find some players on a decent server with a low ping?

Reviving the game looks almost mission impossible?

The community isn't huge. But you can find a server with a decent count daily around 4:30-12. No need to buy anything I believe. It's entirely free anymore.

well i dont even own a copy of HL2 or HL1 anymore, so i assume i have to go buy that no?

No, you don't, Source SDK Base is now completely free.

Sorry, i am not following...
I can see in steam store that I have to buy it.
I see no indication of HL2 with FF free.

I havent played a game for ages nor used Steam for ages...I am Not really up to date

You don't need HL2 to play Source mods, you need Source SDK Base. Go to the Library tab in Steam and select Tools from the dropdown. Then, install Source SDK Base 2006. That is all you need to play FF and it is now completely free.

Throughout the day FF generally struggles with players. As I write this, the European players are in late morning/early afternoon mainly and the USA and sorts are in mid/early morning. And not many people wake up and want to go on a game, and many have jobs they need to go to. You'll get a good game when the Americans finish work, and start relaxing and fancy a game of FF, which is usually for me (UK), between 10pm - 2am when a server fills up. And generally stays filled between those times for hours. Which for Americans is mid afternoon-ish. I'd expect a server to start to fill up about 8 hours from this post.

If the server isn't Old Timers, eventually Old Timers regulars will get their server going, which usually dominates that time. I hope this information is still valid.
