Lighting is meh. Help?

So I'm just getting a feel for how to light my map and I'm getting some weird results that don't make any sense to me. Whenever I compile the map I have everything on normal (fast yielded the same results... at first I thought it was that).

Anyway, take a glance.

Yeah, it's dark, but examine the lighting. Notice how there are no lights present on the upper half. When I walk forward a little...

You'll see lights appear on the top. Also, the roof, for whatever reason, is fullbright. Also, you can see the lines of my blocks.

Now look at the next set:

As I turn ever so slightly the different lights get brighter and dimmer, creating some lame lighting.

I'm using nothing but light entities and all I'm focused on is this room. Should I be using some other kind of light here? Would the presence of a light_environment fix this?

Yeah, was messing around with it a bit and it didn't really fix the changing lighting, which sucks pretty soundly. Every time you pass certain points lights dim and brighten, making it seem like some lines are being drawn.

I found that spot lights worked a bit better, but not by much.

Make sure you aren't using any prop or model textures.

Light environment does nothing unless there's sky.

Yeah, I'm just using the textures that are used on monkey. No matter what I do, it still does it. My lighting shows where my blocks start and stop by stopping any lighting from occurring below or above that point. Never had this happen before and it's incredibly annoying.

Lights also flicker whenever I fire a nailgun/shotgun. Lights fade as I walk away and some just pop on and off after I pass certain points on the map. It's frustrating as I don't know what's causing it.

That was it.

ff_monkey/ff_stonework_piece was the culprit. Figured that prop and model textures would have been labeled with _prop or _model at the end.
