20,000 Downloads
Sweet mother of God!
http://www.fileplanet.com/180681/180...client.exe?r=5 The FF client has had 20,000 downloads! If that is not a success, I do not know what is! To put things in perspective a bit, the much anticipated Insurgency beta has been out for 2 months and has had 35,000 downloads. We have gotten nearly half that amount in six days. Freakin' sweet!

I know most people in Australia probably used the Internode mirror (Because it would be fastest) so that's probably atleast 500 right there.

I added up all of the download links on the First page.
Some of them didn't list a number of DL's. So there's more o,o And on a side note, I made the 72,666th post in general.

looks like 75,000 downloads to me. hype for insurgency was quite a lot, and then it crashed and burned...emphasis on the crashed. |

That said, Filefront actually counts completed downloads, not just clicks on the link like Fileplanet does. /=

you've got it wrong, fileplanet does track completed downloads, filefront tracks download attempts. also insurgency had a bunch of other mirrors after the first day too. ff's launch was a bit lower key than insurgency but a much more solid first release.

If those 20,000 stick around or grow will be the real challenge, especially for the long term. I'll still be onboard though.

Congrats on the number of downloads. And I understand why its getting so many downloads its because of good word of mouth.
It reminds many people of TFC in the way things are played, which is a good thing cause many people have fond memories of TFC. Its also remarkably bug free for a first release. There are not a large number of bugs, and very few show stoppers. As I mentioned at first its getting very good word of mouth. I myself have mentioned it on a bunch of different websites and really can't say enough good things about it. There was also a large number of mirrors to download from and most of them were pretty fast for such a large file. |
