Player clip
I am making a spiral staircase, and was wanting to know the easiest way to playerclip this stair way. here is the hammer pic.

DON'T clip stairs. It feels all wrong. You can't get any advantage out of clipping such a narrow spiral ramp anyway.

Well, if you play it and it feels mad bumpy, I'd say clip it a bit.
But change up the textures. |

just use a spiral ramp, or use shallower steps

It would be easier to use displacements rather than brushes.
Have a look at www.snarkpit.net for a tutorial, or ask eat or one of the trepid's. |

if you wanted to make a contiguous spiral ramp with brushes, cut each step into two triangles, then manipulate the vertices of both triangles to align with the step above or below, depending on how you have the staircase set up.
you could also do it with displacements as Player said, although i suck with displacement architecture so you might get more coherent advice from eat or the trepids as player also suggested. |
