hl2.exe crashes

fortress forever crashes every time i try to adjust anything in the fortress options. I get exited from the game and get the error message "hl2.exe has stopped working."

I am using windows vista!

Any ideas?

click the steam//support link in my siggy. It will check your system for conflicts with steam. Also do you have "source sdk base" installed?
