Help converting .avi's to .iso's

For the record, I'm not asking this to make illegal copies of movies to redistribute to the public, I am asking because I have a few videos on my computer that I would like to put on a DVD and play in a regular DVD player.

That said, I need help! I have no experience in converting video's into .iso, .cue, .bin, etc. to play on a regular DVD player. I use Nero as my burning program I got it with my DVD burner, but I was wondering if I need another program to convert the videos. Thanks!

oh no my friend, it is not that easy. start here. chances are youll have to do a bit of authoring as well. then you gotta make sure you have the right type of media (dvd-or+rs) to work in your dvd player. then you need a good burning software (nero works fine with the right plugins, which ones they are exactly i forget but i might have them on my other hdd )

its a bit of a rabbit hole, and im not by any means a pro at it.

hell it might be a shitload easier than im making it out to be, either way those links should be quite helpful.

Nero I got with my DVD burner is easy.

use the Nero Smart-Start and create video DVD or VCD or whichever... then add your video files using the wizard, and you can create a menu easily if you want, or not.

If your DVD player is not a cheap piece of shit (just sayin' that 'cause the one my parents bought is -.- ) you can just burn a data CD/DVD with the video file on it and it will play so long as it is a AVI or MPEG.

Burn a AVI video to a CD and test it out. If you want to have menus and all of that fancy crap, though, then yeah go with Nero.

For the record, you are NOT converting from avi to iso.
avi is a video format.
iso is a CD image.

What you want to do is burn a video as a DVD.

As people have already said, I would recommend using Nero simply because there is little it can't do

I think for that to work the DVD player has to be able to play DivX files. You can get one that will play DivX for about $38 which isn't too bad, and its a hell of a lot easier using one of those then trying to convert to the correct format, then shrinking it down to fit, and all the time that is involved.
