Would you like to see basic server admin built into FF?
One of the suggestions I made to the devs was to build in server admin in FF. Just the basics that come with rcon access, but with a GUI:
Kick SteamID Ban SteamID Flag SteamID (i.e. puts a flag on the SteamID so other admins know to watch the guy) Csay (Put a message in the center of the screen) Would you like to see very basic admin stuff built into FF as part of the menu for people who have rcon access? Of course, it is important to state that fixing bugs takes priority over all, so when or if this will happen is up in the air. I just think it would be nice for newbie server owners to just be able to install the FF server and run admin with this, sans any plugins.

What do you mean?
For people running a server? Just some simple commands to make it easier? I would like to see an easier, more stable way to run a server, with some troubleshooting FAQs. The sticky seems straight forward, but I've tried it multiple ways and always have issues of some sort. |

I mean for anyone who has rcon access.
I think you kick people using their Steam IDs, meaning you have to put in your rcon password, type "status" in console, and then do something like kick 0:0:0000 or whatever? It could all be done via a GUI, just like the plugins and stuff do. I just think that this basic level of functionality for admins should be built into FF. There could be like a "Admin Menu" in the menu where you have to type in the rcon pass for the server. After you get it in, it brings up all of the sub menus, like kick player, ban player, flag player, etc. You can just work with a list of the players currently in game and such. If you want to ban someone who just left or something, I guess you would have to manually find their SteamID... maybe when you click on kick or ban there is an option to manually enter the ID?

Yes. As in you are playing on a server that you have admin rights to and because of your admin status, you get a gui admin console that pops up?
I would like that. |

That's sounds like a cool idea.
Small GUI in-game listing all players (like they appear in the steam GUI when looking at a server. Select a player, then have buttons to kick and ban (with a text box for ban length) |

I'm not too sure I would want to have my rcon pass out to that many people at once.

Basically a built-in, easy to use admin control panel menu.

No, focus should be spent on tweaking, improving, etc. FF itself -- not inventing a new wheel for something that already exists in plenty of good simple add-ons.
Not to mention the add-ons already out are custom made for their duties, automatically recognize steam IDs, etc. So again, lets focus on dev work with more practical needs, not making new extra trinkets that already exist. |

Hey, did I say that this should be done over bugfixes, missing animations, etc.? Obviously this is back burner stuff.
If so many people use the plugins already it should just be built into the game.

What was it mervaka said? "If you can't trust someone with rcon, you shouldn't trust them with admin at all".

I'd rather just leave it to admin mods to do this sort of thing. Dedicated plugins will nearly always offer more & better functionality than a tagged-on feature, plus I don't see us having the time to do this any time soon

one thing thatd be useful is a simple user initiated votemap (+ one at end of map). rather not put addons on server unless absolutely necessary. though obviously there is more important things to be done

The phrase has been in use since at least 1928. The link explains all.
