Well I'll be waiting here 2morrow, the next day, until the mod comes out and beyond. I don't care if it takes one more year, I will be here.
Keep doing a Good Job FF Team You know, it would be nice having an appreciation thread for the FF team. |

Beefy makes it sound like it's not going to be finished any time soon due, but PHISH does the opposite. Which is it? Can you make a frontpage update about the status of it and what needs to be done, so everyone that doesn't read the forums knows what's been going on?

Honestly, I think the major slowdown we're currently experiencing is just a bunch of "bad" things combined at once. People moving, the holiday season, the dreaded 2 year mark of FF's development, and things like that. All of this just happened to happen (wait, what?) at the same time, so it's making FF have a whole lot more downtime than it's ever had before...ever. I really think things will get back to normal sometime in January and we'll be back on track to releasing within 2-3 months like we had planned back in October for the December release.
Also, as far as front page news, media, and all that shit goes...there have been lots of improvements since the Dustbowl Valley video was released back at the beginning of September. We could easily release new media showing off new stuff as well as just improved stuff. But the thing is, we've been wanting the next media release to be a step up from the last one...which means an incredible FF trailer showing every aspect of the mod. And in order to do that, we essentially need the mod to be done. But uh...with all the recent downtime and delays, I think a regular news post and screenshot-based media release is due. We need to let the rest of the public know what's going on, because most people haven't heard much about FF since the Dustbowl Valley video...and like I said, we've come a long way since then and could easily show it while explaining our release plans. Hhhhhaaaaaaannnnnndjob. |

I'd care much more for a couple new pictures or something. That's just me though.

I too would like some images of firefights and new map angles and maybe some really nice fish-eyed shots of the railgun being fired over a wide area, and a good shot of the concussion effect in action and OOH maybe a dispenser explosion if the effect is in place and how about some cloaking?

Also, harken back to what got you all motivated last winter and the winter before, get some new blood in there to be a motivator, redistribute responsibilities, etc... many ways for organizations to get re-energized Quote:
There is a sort of choice here: #1. Update the front page even though the mod isn't progressing with a shot of something to keep the community together. Result: No matter when its released, there will be people to play. #2. Don't update the front page and only focus on getting some work done. Result: You release quicker, but there won't be hardly anyone to play. Just paste a screenie of the HWguy's head, or a battle between a select two classes.. Hell, even though it'll get locked I'm going to post something in General Discussion. Here you have it, a premeditated locked post... Last edited by o_imbrifer; 12-30-2006 at 08:38 PM. |

What I want to know is where in the bible does it say that the next media update has to be a step up from the last one. Bill of Rights? Magna Carta? US constitution? Qur'ān? I think you get the point. This is your mod, your website, your rights. No one is pointing a gun at the FF team and telling them "If the next update ain't better than the last one, I'll fucking eat your family in front of you!"
All we want is to have a much better understanding of what has been completed over the four month period of time. That's all, not asking much to be honest. Maybe it is time to hire someone who can click F5 while in game, sexy it up with text, and upload it to your website since the team has proven how hard it is to do those simple steps (3 minutes per screen shot at most, damn!). Don't get my wrong here, I'm just stating what has to be done for the sake of this mod. 10 screen shots = supports = it's a win-win situation. Not hard, just takes a couple of minutes to actually post some new media. Christ. |

It doesn't have to be a step up...anymore, anyways. That's just what we were wanting to do back before the slowdown...when all of this was going to happen in just a few months time.
- dustbowl video - trailer - release But that was when we thought it was possible to do the trailer-release shit back in November-December. Now, I think the plan has changed to just do any kind of update since it's been so long and it'll most likely be at least 2-3 months before the release. I just uh...I agree. We need to do more frequent updates like we used to. Who knows...there may even be a connection between the frequency of updates and the speed of the development. I mean, we were going faster when we were doing news/media updates more often. Could just be a coincidence, but it still might have some merit? Maybe? I dunno... I think we need to update real soon with news, media, and head. |
