What I can say for certain is, finally, it is clear TF successors are coming "soonish" for once. The whole cartoonist TF2 is rather up in the air for me on how well it'll turn out. FF I bet will reign supreme. Vee zhall zee! |

when people will get to play ff first they will realise how good it is and by the time tf2 comes out, they'll try that out for a while but stick with ff if ff would come out after tf2 most people wouldn't bother to download ff |

Unfortunately i do fear for FF if it is released after TF2 but at least we'll all have 2 games to play! The lack of specific skills really seems to have held the mod back.

How about a release on the same day as tfc did? (can't remember the date right now, september maybe?) that would rock! ;p

Fortress Forever won't release in August. Nor will it relesae in September, October, November, or December. It's in a perpetual state of 'bug fixes' and 'coding'. Team Fortress 2 will release on October 9th and steal the attention from Fortress Forever. Fortress Forever will die, devoid of attention, in an unfinished state.

Any beta tester can tell you the game is in a playable state right now... most of the major bugs are dead.
Just because it is playable does not mean it is complete. There are a few things still bein' worked out. Bein' honest here, when I first got on board the beta testing shit a few months ago, the game had some issues and was not terribly polished. It is looking much better and the progress has been steady. Mulch and mirv have been bustin' their assess, and the addition of Aftershock has really fleshed out the coding team and made things proceed faster. All we hear (public and testers included) is that the development is "proceeding along according to [their] internal schedule". I have never seen the schedule, but from the steady rate of bugfixes, improvements, etc. I can at least say that things are chuggin' along nicely.

I've held out longer than anyone I personally know and kept faith in this game. I check the website almost every day, and have spent a good deal of time lurking on the forums. I've gotta be honest, though, even I'm starting to doubt that this game will be able to compete with TF2, and there've even been inklings of doubt (albeit small ones) as to whether or not I truly believe this game will come out at all.
I understand an author's desire to release his work in as perfect a state as possible, but never in a million years did I think TF2 would beat this game to release, and it will. That's dissapointing, because I think FF will be truer to the spirit of TFC, and it's community will be impacted severely -- A lot of casual users who don't spend a lot of time here are just going to pick up the first Fortress game that comes out and stick with it, and FF could have had those users. I know that myself and, generally, anyone reading this message will at least give both games a fair shot, but by delaying the release so long, the FF mod will lose a sizable number of dedicated players. Is that really worth a bug-free first release? I know my post doesn't change anything, but I had to rant eventually. I just wanna play me some good lookin' TF |

I'm sure you can understand the importance of reducing that possibility and making that first experience the best possible. Anyway thanks for your post. |
