Map Idea: Train
So as I was falling asleep, I got the idea for a train-style map.
The jist of it is that there is a train running in a loop around the map. There are three evenly-spaced bases which it passes through. Points are scored king-of-the-hill style: whichever team stays on the train the longest gets the most points. If any of you played 'train hunters' for HL 1, this would be a ff map in that style. What do y'all think? |

Axltrain_b2 type map for FF would be leet, hugely fun map, especially TK'ing without actually TKing
Good idea though, could proove interesting but would there be any kind of restock on the train? |

I already have permission to remake gulch from zuave, but I think you could make it look better than I could ever think about making it.

I've been thinking about making 3 unique bases on three sides of an island volcano (to attempt a new theme - if it doesnt work, ill make it a mountain). Would this work, or should players be able to run across the center of the map? Should players be able to stop the train, or should it be constantly running? |

From what I understand it's actually better to let the core of the map stand still have the rest of the scenery move instead.

Don't worry, it will be fairly easy to make the map run smoothly. I suppose some cover would be important between the bases so the reds could invade the greens if they stopped the train in their base.
Yeah. Any other ideas? Should there be controllable heavy guns? teleporters so its easy/quick to get to other parts of the map? buttons in bases which kill everyone inside (a la rock2)? Autocannons along the train line you can turn on? power to the rail line you can turn off? other more applicable ideas? |

The FF team has actually stated that they solved the shaking brush problem. It was a while ago, and I have yet to see it, but that is why I have gone on this escapade of making maps with moving parts.
What other ideas do y'all have for this map? So far I have most of the volcano and some structure built - but I still need the 3 bases, train and track. |

Soo, so far I have a map that is an island which has a giant volcano. You can enter the volcano from corridors on 3 sides, which meet in the center. The layout is basically a mercedes symbol, if you can imagine that - the circle is the track the train takes, and the 3 spokes are 'shortcuts' players can walk. At 3 equi-distant points around the circle, there will be a base - red, blue, yellow - which the train passes through.
I'm worried that this simple arrangement won't function well. Thoughts? I'd like to cover the island in jungle trees (right now the beaches are barren) if possible.. anyone know where I can dig some up? |
