Did any of you play RuneScape back when it was, well -- good? Back in the 2000-2006 era?

Whelp, a private server is about to launch its public Alpha phase -- and it has been getting a lot of attention lately.

Not sure how the whole donation/members/etc. thing works yet, but it could be cool unless it gets so popular Jagex takes note and tries to get it shut down (and would most likely, from a legal standpoint, succeed).

RuneScape has never ever been good. It's a terrible terrible terrible terrible game where you simply click on something over and over again until you level up. It's like the epitomy of grinding.

Other than that, looks good.

Eh, I found it enjoyable to play while surfing the web and watching movies. I used to have a hell of a lot of fun with it and friends from way back when. Totally different from the abomination that it is now... better community, no skill capes or dumb skills that are in the game now, much harder, more brutal, no gravestones upon death, much more punishing PvP in the Wilderness... good times. Definitely better than now.

Only time ive had fun with RS was in the runescape classic days. A few years ago i played on a private server for RSC called RunescapeClassicAngel or something, with like 2k players on 24/7 but it died.

Had high hopes for this, but meh, don't have the time for an MMO in my life, and probably won't for quite some time. Even RS. :P
