Ok.

I use a three blade razor (Mach 3, et cetera) to get the hair down to stubble. Then, an electric foil razor to get the stubble. Seriously, it's the closest shave I've ever had. I use a Shaveman. Just hard to get sideburns with it.

IMHO, if you can grow a beard, then grow one. Cite religion as the reason you have it and you can't be touched in terms of the job market. Claim religious discrimination if someone brings it up. It's what I do and it works just fine.
