Pre-3.0 I would agree with the Firefox crashing sentiment but since 3.0 I haven't had a single crash that I can remember (pre-3.0 was an absolute nightmare).

I have not had Firefox crash on me for ages now. 3.0 helped quite a bit.

firefox crashed more for me after installing 3.0 than before. i liked opera for a while but it seemed to go really slow, and when i was stealing internet it wouldnt load any pages at all, ever. i switched to chrome and that did a much better job and worked a lot faster, even with stolen shoddy internet. been using chrome since.

i will probably check out this release of opera though, because i absolutely love the Block Content feature and the Magic Wand. hopefully this new release is faster

I haven't had a chance to try it for myself yet but it looks pretty cool. Sharing pictures, music, and hosting web from your PC so easily... I wonder how good it'll work tho considering there will always be the bandwidth issue especially for uploading. Anyone had the chance to try playing music directly from a friend's pc? Then 3 or 4 ppl at the same time? I can't beleive that would work honestly but you never know with technology...

I have used Firefox for many years myself and for a PC it's my browser of choice (and for the departments I work for at a university).

Firefox has had it's stability issues especially after update releases and if you run a lot of add-ons but over all it's one of the best browsers out there.

Opera Mobile is one of the best browsers out there for PDA's hands down but I wouldn't know about the PC version.

Everyone's style and needs are different so I'm just thankful for having the option of multiple decent browser platforms to choose from

any reactions on this? I'm finding my firefox is crashing more and more and am considering switching. Is Opera better or should I go to chrome?

Opera and Safari/Chrome(Webkit) both pass Acid 3 with 100, while Firefox 3.5 is 93(If I remember correctly).

For those who do not know what ACID is
Quote:
Acid3 is a test page from the Web Standards Project that checks how well a web browser follows certain web standards, especially relating to the Document Object Model and JavaScript.

When successful, the Acid3 test displays a gradually increasing percentage counter with colored rectangles in the background. The percentage displayed is based on the number of subtests passed. It does not represent an actual percentage of conformance as the test does not keep track of how many of the subtests were actually started (100 is assumed). In addition to these the browser also has to render the page exactly like the reference page is rendered in the same browser. Like the text of the Acid2 test, the text of the Acid3 reference rendering is not a bitmap, in order to allow for certain differences in font rendering.

Not surprised, but IE8 is still in the 20s, lol.

I use firefox because i've been using it since it began
