Can you make portal-esque (prey?) teleporters?

I mean the kind of teleporter that shows what's on the other side, into which you can throw grens and stuff and most importantly, where you don't really see where the teleporter actually is.

I'd love to see some sort of fnortress with a midfield built up like this:

left tunnel start
teleporter start*
left tunnel end

right tunnel start
*teleporter end
right tunnel end

the left teleporter brings you to the right end and vice versa.
The only - well, I'll call it "practical use" anyway - practical use is that you've got complete symmetry (red's left tunnel = right's left tunnel) even when you put something into one of the tunnels, but not the other or style the tunnels completely different.

If you enjoyed this idea, feel free to use it.
I'm not really into mapping (but the first TF map I played, I made myself. Since the objective (throw grens into the small window in blue's base's small house-like thing until all the 1000-health buttons moved down and made a pathway to the detpack-button. the real objective)) was simply too odd, all anyone who ever played this map did was opening the main gate and spamming ^_^

You could fake it with cameras and monitors ala the end of HL2, but as far as I know the portal stuff isn't in the engine at all yet.

I'd REALLY like to be able to use them in TF maps. I'd make a map where there are 2 bases on either side of some sort of midfield, except that players can't go into the enemy base. Both teams must try to complete some sort of objective in the midmap, like turning a valve or whatever, then a room in their base lowers down into the enemy base, and the flag can be extracted.

Something like openfire with the security lasers, but extreemly overwrought.

garrys mod managed to get the portal type tele thing to work i'll send some screenies when i next intall it

You couldn't really see through those (LAST I SAW THEM), though.

One of the trepids (I have difficulty telling them apart) wanted to use Portals for hunted's escape route, but couldn't due to TECHNICAL LIMITATIONS. Supposedly.
