Was playing last night and thought the game was moving even closer towards death.

But then I decide to check the website and see this, and am pleasantly surprised.

Turns out Neotokyo did a little bit more than just figure out the correct directory structure (see this post for some context). To get servers to work correctly, someone built them some custom engine .dlls, but those custom .dlls have some Neotokyo-specific stuff in them which is giving us problems. We're talking to the guy that helped Neotokyo with this stuff, though, so hopefully we can get it figured out.

So, can't really give an estimate at this point. I can tell you that FF will not be playable on a Mac once we release on Steam, though (that'd require upgrading to Source SDK 2013).

We managed to get the dedicated server working on steam

But we couldnt connect to it, it kept saying "you dont own this game". It was using the wrong appid and we had no idea why

Then we talked to a cool guy who said he would help

But then he couldnt figure it out

Then a few days later he worked it out - said it was sending the right appid just with an extra 0

But when we checked, all the appid files were using the right appid.

Then squeek decided to press enter, at the end of the appid line. And then connecting to dedicated servers over steam started working.

But now the server browser doesn't work because we have hardcoded NeoTokyo stuff in our dlls.

I had this same error last year trying to connect to moto's, only happened once in a blue moon, not seen it for months.



before it does go to steam, any chance you dev's can make it so jump pads cannot be destroyed by snipers please?

Really slows the pace down on aardvark and some other maps.

There's lots of other things I would like to see but I think that would be a quick fix?

While I don't necessarily support hats, certain cosmetic options (I want multicolored spy face camera thing!) would keep some players around. That said, that's a huge undertaking and no pressure to do that.
