Crucial Ballistix PC5300 are awesome atm. They will overclock like crazy if your so inclined. If not then go for some Crucial Ballistix PC6400 slightly faster out of the box but a tad more expensive. http://www.neoseeker.com/Articles/Ha...rucial-pc6400/

You may want to change yor mind about the Mobo however. The new Core2Duo range E6x50 range are running on the new 1333 FSB which the above Mobo does not seem to support. With Intels pricing now the new faster 1333 FSB processors are actually cheaper than the older 1066 FSB models such as the E6000. Could be a good idea to get an Asus P5N or similar which will give you abetter range of cheaper and faster processors...

Whats OS will you be using out of intrest? XP/Vista? 32bit or 64bit?

If your going to be using a 32bit OS then there is no point getting 4Gb ram as a 32bit OS will only be able to use 3.45Gb of it. Ideally if you want 2Gb and above you want to be using XP or Vista 64Bit OS.

Maximum Memory: 8GB
Memory Expansion: 4 Sockets
Memory Comments: Memory must be ordered and installed in matching pairs for dual channel operation. A 64-bit Operating System is required to utilize more than 4GB of memory. If 4GB is installed, the recognized memory may be reduced to 3.5GB or less depending on system configuration and system memory allocation.

Supports DDR2-533, 667 and 800

Install the latest BIOS immediately upon completing the build. They have issued a LOT of BIOS updates for this board and some, including the most recent one, have been created to enhance memory compatibility with varying FSB speeds. Typically, that's a sign that they've had issues with faster modules with their chipset/bios combination. (Intel P965).

Intel has stated the P965 chipset has issues with DDR2-800 in particular and has determined specific module requirements are necessary in order for them to perform correctly. This chipset was initially introduced with 400/533 support and was later "expanded" to supposedly accomodate 667 and 800 speeds. Personally, I expect you to have issues with 800s, as noted by Intel, and 667s look to have caused issues earlier as indicated by the vast number of BIOS updates. I suggest you get a different board.

Will be fine then for 4GB ram but i would still look into a differnt Mobo.

For the mobo instead of a P5N as i suggested above go for a P35 Chipset.. An Asus P5K-E can be had for a decent price and will support the ram your after as well as the new C2D processors.

Something likethis http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showpr...d=5&subcat=913

If you already have the board, just keep away from DDR2-800 AND update your BIOS to help alleviate potential issues with 667s which would be the fastest memory I would install.

Just surfin through the threads and stumbled on this. Not trolling, just curious as to why you'd steer clear of DDR2-800. If not 800, I'd buy 533 for the simple fact that it runs sync'd with the cpu. Benchmarks show that 2GB of 533 can perform better than 667 -- the gap is closed with 800 as its noticeably faster, especially with tighter timings. At least PC2-6400 gives you plenty of room to overclock/underclock.

Then again, it could be a suggestion based on a compatibility issue... I didn't look very deep in the info you guys provided.

In the FWIW category, the new E6850 seems to be hitting all the nice numbers right now:

As far as compatibility goes, rarely is it ever a hardware issue so if you're seeing problems now, they'll likely be fixed in an update -- whether that be video drivers or OS updates. Playing the DX10 game path vs. the DX9 game path is a different story though...

DX10 isn't about maxing your frames, its about maxing your playing experience while keeping the gameplay smooth. This means that you can enable more detail/lighting/shaders while taking a minimal hit to your performance. People have based their card strength on gaming at 100+ fps for far too long and I'm quite glad the industry is trying to move away from that. As long as you average more than 40 fps, you're fine. IMO, higher playable settings > higher fps
