Asking someone from Steam to have FF linked to this website from the stats could be a start.

i'm afraid of the massive inevitable drop that will occur once TF2 outs.

Eh, as long as there's one full server running FF, I'll be satisfied. I think we all knew FF was going to be the niche community.

Give those people a few days to be thoroughly disappointed with the game and come over to us.

True, but what if that 1 server is a clan-style rules server or a no swear/no fun/no this/no that uber controlled server???? What then!?

You didnt really expect TF2 not to be massively popular did you? It's probably the most simple FPS i have ever played which will attract and please a shitload of new players, it also looks like the incredibles and what percentage of steam users do you think are kids?

It's not so strange when you consider that tf2 fanboys, including mods, come over to the FF forums.

May be valve didn't want the customers looking at FF and think that it was tf2, or vice versa.

Nah, i take my first comment back: it's very strange indeed.

No big deal. The game is at 11 right now and look at the top Valve powerhouses. A mod can't really expect to go against those.

If you take the Valve owned games out of the list... we are #3!

That's not too shabby.

The community has to be built and grow... we can't advertise and package purchase a community.

Leagues are starting.... and I'm ready to get this Mutha ramped up.

Regardless of where FF is in the ranking right now, and it's really not doing badly all things considered, it has what counts. Right now I can load the game up and quickly find a populated server with a good ping and go have fun. Even if the community ends up being smaller than we'd like or hope, as long as the above is true FF will survive and be a success.

It is hard to compete with Valve. Valve has the resources to make TF2 well known to the world. TF2 is also part of a package deal that means it will end up on the hard drive of tons of people who may not have bought it if it were a stand alone item. FF has to work against that, building a following from the ground up and countering the assumptions that it's just an amateur version of TF2.
