A quick tip on graphics problems
One day, (I won't tell you the reason), I decided to play FF in window mode for a while. The graphics were worse in window mode, so later I changed back into fullscreen. BUT, the graphics were as bad as they were as in window mode. All the textures were screwed, and on FF_aardvark the spawn room had some sort of green/red gas moving around. Same with the main ramp.
I fixed this problem by simply reinstalling FF. Note that do not manually delete the FF folder, in the sourcemods folder you will find an uninstaller. After uninstalling and reinstalling, everything works again. The only thing that pisses me off is that you can't have your fortress options back. Just to share with you guys if you ever run into this. |

hmmm...I would assume there is a folder somewhere where your fortress options get saved...I'll look around and see if I can't find them.
Also I'm going to move this to the Tech Support section for anyone looking for it in the future.

Fortress config files
Actually, there are several files that contain config settings:
First off, there's "config.cfg", located in: Program Files\Steam\steamapps\SourceMods\FortressForever\c fg It contains key bindings, detail settings, screen resoluton settings, player name etc... Then "CrosshairScheme.res" and "FFOptionsSubCrosshairs.res" both probably contain the settings for your custom crosshair setup. The latter can be found in: Program Files\Steam\steamapps\SourceMods\FortressForever\r esource\ui The former in: Program Files\Steam\steamapps\SourceMods\FortressForever\r esource\ Now I haven't confirmed these last two, but it seems like a logical conclusion. I could, however, very well be wrong about these. I AM 100% sure about config.cfg though. It may very well contain the crosshair stuff too... |

it's the config.cfg b/c when I copied over my cfg folder to the beta build it kept my crosshairs.

Awesome.
Thanks for the tip. That'll make it oodles easier during re-install. I still have several key files to remember though. That's only because I tweaked the scoreboard to show more players and have a crouch toggle script. Also, the maps folder is worth backing up too.

yeah I always back up my cfg folder and maps folder. Everything else shouldn't really matter, unless you have custom models and / or materials.
