Fix for choppy SourceTV

Being sick of not being able to watch FF matches via SourceTV, me and CUJO were fed up. We embarked on a quest tonight to find what exactly is wrong with SourceTV in FF... and we have found it.

After much testing we narrowed it down to the command tv_maxrate. Normally this cvar is default to 5000, but it's apparently not enough for Fortress Forever. Setting tv_maxrate to 0 (Unlimited) will eliminate any choppiness in SourceTV now. Our final test was doing just this and watching a 4v4 pickup and the results were amazing, the pickup was full of smooth game play like it is supposed to be.

In summary tv_maxrate must be set to 0. I'm sure you could make it a large number like 30000 but I have only tested 0.

Note that if you don't change this via server config, you must use rcon tv_maxrate , because tv_maxrate without rcon just changes your own listenserver sourcetv maxrate

its such an amazing victory when we finally figured it out, and the results we got, so perfect. worth staying up until 5am for sure! possibly this can be put into the next patch to make this a server default?

anyway good job rodox, took some exhaustive testing but we figured it out!

awesome. i presume this will make the .dem file size a lot bigger being unlimited..

For the sake of servers recording them, I think we should find the lowest but best value

Yeah this is what I was thinking also. I'll test it out and report back to see what happens with the demos.

I don't see how seeing as ff is a work in progress and always changing. So finding stuff like this just helps us make the game better. Plus with UGC happening this is gonna be really nice!

amazing UGC test today, settings changed for 2 USA servers and 1 euro server. works perfect, nice and smooth, lots of fun to watch with the in game comms. only problem is that the match's end is cut off due to sever changing maps. i think less of a delay would still be effective, the average run is only 15 seconds or so until someone dies.. so a delay of 15 or 20 seconds i think would be effective. although thats something im going to need to discuss with someone who has power with that.
