Steam Green light update?

Probably just best to deal with it, some games have been greenlit for a year longer than FF and still aren't on Steam. D:

I'm surprised more people aren't / weren't upset at the lack of rules for Greenlight that are directed towards Valve, like maximum contact times and so on.

The only reason is that it has to be updated to the new Source Engine. I believe dexter has been working on it.

Seriously though, I think it's likely that the last two remaining devs are fed up with and over FF. You guys have all asked a million times and nobody has so much as hinted at an answer. When I asked dexter and squeek they said they were porting to the new sdk. But anymore if you ask dexter where squeek is or what's going on he has no clue.

There's MAYBE one dev left, depending on what dexter is actually doing. And even if he finishes the port 3 years from now, it's not like he's going to magically whip up new models, animations, and textures.

I don't know if something newer than 2006 sdk base is a requirement for a steam release. If it's not, then I suggest every one stops fooling themselves and release the game as is, to salvage what little is left of the greenlight benefit.

If some team wants to come and make the next great fortress title they will, but FF is not going to fill that role.

The real reason Squeek is inactive is due to stealing bitcoins from Mt.Gox
But when the jail term has ended he will invest some of those coins and make ff into a triple A free to play title.

It is also going to come out with a new class. The Technician, the class uses radio controlled small buggys with a bomb attached to it, and controlled via remote viewing.

He also has a mini glider that can be used to jump off higher platforms.

FDA, I had a discussion with dexter recently about it and he seems on board with getting it done one way or another. Squeek also recently showed his face in another post. Who can really assume what their status is until they let us know?

The past updates in FF have been secret, for the most part, until late in the development stage of each update so it is not a surprise to not hear much being talked about until this thread. A long time ago the community relied on the dev journals for a progress report on whatever was being worked on. I think that's something we need more of tbh. I know there are occasional twitter announcements but more transparency would be nice, even if it's just only partially done. It gives the community something to discuss instead of waiting a year or two for the next patch with virtually no indication from the devs about what is being done.

This causes people to become anxious for an update and eventually lose interest or to say shit like the game's dead. This has been said many times before up to and including the release of FF, yet there has always been continued support, albeit miniscule at times. As long as there are people interested in this mod, I think it will continue to be developed, even if it has to be put on hold from time to time.

Anyway, I'd be happy to help get this mod where it needs to be, even if it's doing menial tasks that would lift some of the burden for the remaining developers (provided I know what I'm doing).

I asked dexter if squeek was leaving us because we're all fat, and he said my guess was as good as his. I can understand if they have things going on in real life, or don't want to talk much about the developement process. But, as hot a topic as this is, you would think someone would say something. A "we're working on it", "we give up", "burnt out and taking a break" anything.

I also think it's a little naive to assume that there will always be support where there's interest for the mod. This is not hogwarts, these are real people with real lives. They'll want to move on eventually and there's nothing wrong with that. But when they do it's not likely anyone is going to pick up support for this game unless one of us learns how to code like right now.

I'm not trying to be a debby downer, I'm just trying to be realistic. Until squeek comes in and says the game goes on, it will stay how it is.

I'm not posting super offically or anything but theres work being done on 2013 engine. I want to re-iterate how much work it is though, it's a ton of work esp. since we are jumping from 2006 to 2013 all while trying to make the code better in the process (heaps of the ep1 code is painful/not very flexible/outdated etc)

i think the policy of the FF staff is to only show what they have done and can promise so they don't make promises they can't keep and disappoint people though that said i think they have a ways to go on keeping people informed and is a vital part of keeping people interested.

I don't think anyone is really attacking him. I'm speculating that he's either done with or taking a break from FF, and like I said in my last post there's nothing wrong with that. I hope he does what ever makes him happy because he's a good guy.

But he's obviously going to be a focal point of this type of discussion being he's run the show for the last few years. And it's a bummer not hearing anything about FF's status for the last 7 months while people are quickly losing interest. And that's why I pressured dexter into playing his hand.

srsly he like would fix 4 lua scripts then make a 100000 line script that fixes all of ff then add 9 things to the game and then win 42 pickups in a row everyday then be an active and nice guy here at the same time
