Okey so i have a more than meaningless subject in school which is about culture history, I have to write some page about something or someone and how they affected culture. I have no idea what to write about, i thought about motown, but then again they didnt really affect culture did they..? So anyway help!

I don't know a massive amount about Motown, but I'm pretty sure it was extremely important, not only in terms of how it influenced music, but also in terms of the black rights movement and the creation of a celebrated black presence in mainstream white popular culture. You could easily do that - maybe pick out a specific artist if its just a 'page' you need to do.

It sounds like a really interesting project to me...

Sounds like a 5th grade assignment. Use 'Computers' as your subject. Tons of articles have already been written about it and, since it's not a 'person', you would probably get some extra points.

Motown definitely had an impact on culture. It's music. By definition there's an impact it has/had. That it may not touch the corner of culture in which you dwell doesn't mean that it had no impact. Motown rose during a tumultuous time in American history when the blacks were struggling to see full acceptance in all areas of the country and in society. The music is an expression of that time. Look at all the different and active music's genre's today. For people that are involved and engaged with that genre it has far more meaning than for those that don't.

Dig a little some information on Motown if that's the direction you're headed and learn about that era. FWIW, avoid Wikipedia and stick to more reliable and reputable sources.

Seriously though, dudes; Wikipedia admins & mods has been cracking down on fuckers that add non-factual bullshit to the site. Sure, some of it may go un-noticed for hours, days, weeks, or even months; but it does get fixed and most of the shit on there is factual. I've seen an actor's profile riddled with bullshit like AOL/text message spam, but 2 days later it was fixed with proper information. Of all the shit i've read up on; i've looked at Wikipedia and other sources, and Wikipedia is pretty much as accurate as other sources (other sources being books, magazines, dictionaries, press reports, news reports, etc). Granted, I don't take everything on there as 100% factual, I take it and get what I can out of it, then I refine my information using other sources.
