What the fuck.... they are giving out a demo, so that's worth checking out. Doubt I'll like it, but I've been surprised before.

Not gonna edit.... got too much to say.
I DL'd the demo. Being perfectly honest here: Graphix wise, I was HIGHLY impressed. The intro into the game was as close to a small movie as I've seen since C&C:Tiberium Sun. Very well done. The gameplay is decent. Options allowed me to configure it to my standard TFC/FF keyboard layout, which made me happy(I hate trying to re-learn key configs). I did notice a tendancy to accidently shoot team mates. On the downside: It reminds me too much of the remake of "Dawn of the Dead"..... in which zombies can run. They are fucking dead... they should be slow. The offset to that, is that they require a headshot to destroy them(in other words, some measure of skill). This game has been dumbed down(IMHO) for the common gamer, to just "spray and pray" to kill the zombies with a load of ammo. Aside from that, something I didn't like too much, is that you must hit your "use" key (default E) to pick up weapons and ammo. Final thoughts: The game is pretty decent. I admit it. I don't know if it's worth $45 to me(pre-release price).... but it's definitely worth checking out. Lots of action, although some of the maps(that I've seen) are dark. I hope there are some daytime scenes to this game, otherwise I really won't like that. (That was something that really bothered me about "Ravenholm" from HL2..... no daytime scenes...) DL the demo, it's well worth the time. See if it's a game you'd like to play before you buy it. Valve should continue this trend. I'm not sure it's the thing for me.... but the chance to try it out was definitely appreciated.

First of all, did you try it on expert? It takes alot more aiming skills because tanks and such are hard to put down without them.
Also, you can't forget that you do have a flashlight, it's made for those dark areas; thats why you have it Lastly, if the zombies were slow, the game wouldn't be nearly as intense or as much fun; slow zombies aren't fun to play as and honestly to me aren't as scary as zombies like the l4d ones that act more like rabid animals than humans. |

That's the whole thing about classic horror movies.... it's not about uber-fast enemies.... it's about a shitload of them, and requiring skill to defeat them.
Look at the original Dawn of the Dead, and the remake. The remake DID have some humour to it(I enjoyed the rooftop chalkboard exchange... but that was about it)...... but the original had hoards of zombies over-running the living, because they were a: (human side)disorganized & outnumbered and b: (zombie side) required destruction of the brain to destroy them. In a way it was balanced.... but the living ended up with the short end of the stick the longer it went on. The living DID have their brains to rely on.... which balanced against the sheer numbers they were against.

Just some FYI, these aren't zombies. They are infected, similar to 28 Day Later.

the "zombies" are NOT dead. They are infected with a mutated form of rabies, which makes them REALLY REALLY REALLY mad. If you notice, they only punch/kick you, they do not bite. i think you will like Dead Air, the daytime mission edit: beat by credge |

I shoot all my teammates. I kill them all. Then, I beat the round.
On Normal... When a horde comes, I just go into a corner and use the overpowered melee.

I haven't played it yet and I don't know if I will.
I honestly need a new computer, and I'm sick of frankensteining parts over and over again. So I'm really trying to avoid getting into this game. As it stands, the purchases I've decided to make before I get my computer are: 1) Mirror's Edge 2) Street Fighter IV (when it comes out on the 360) 3) A HD for my buddy 4) OpenPandora I'd really not want to add something else, and judging from everyone else's reactions I'll be adding L4D to this list.

My dad bought me a copy of the game... as well as a copy for him. We played the demo together a good bit (there were 4 of us... all family ) and we had so much fun playing it. He was so excited for it that he stole a headset from work so he could use it to play with us.
It's so cool seeing a bunch of Coop games pop up again. CoD, our favorite FPS, finally goes coop and it's amazing. RA, our favorite RTS, gets a coop campaign and it's amazing. And then here comes L4D with its arcade-action easy to learn hard to master (eh) gameplay that is just simply more fun than should be allowed comes out and... Fun. GG PC gaming. You've done me well. Now just release Diablo 3 and StarCraft 2 and all will be back to normal. Edit: SUCKS BALLS I WON'T BE ABLE TO PLAY IT TONIGHT WHILE MY DAD WILL.

wow. I really never played a game that is this fun, i really havent. Sure, games such as HL2 were fun, but were more in-depth in story, and other things. But L4D is just.... Fun.
im speechless. All i gotta say is... Valve. Fucking. Rocks. |
