Aw!
I like how you just up and re-installed it instead of trying to fix it or anything.

You reinstalled it without making sure your crappy map wasn't backed up first?

It is a shame you lack the intelligence to back up your files before doing anything drastic, or not so drastic in this case :P

I'd have to say that if something pooched Steam bad enough for me to uninstall it, I'd be pissed if I couldn't back up the 12 gigs of shit I have downloaded already.

lol seriously.
I always make backups, ALWAYS. If I was to lose just a day of work in hammer I think I'd give up on the map and probably on hammer too. |

I did the same thing a few months back and I thought it wont delete my custom content duh 3 months of work gone.
I did manage to use this http://www.thejunkshop.net/Downloads/details/id=7.html And got back some of my files but it takes time. Now I have my vmf's on another driver and a zip of the vmf's on a 3rd drive |

Instead of writting CDs of vmfs you can just email them to your yahoo, hotmail or gmail account. A compressed vmf is pretty small, maybe even smaller than your weener.

umm system restore anybody???
as your computer is restarting press f8 untill a screen comes up pick safemode (with what ever you want i.e. networking) when you select your username there will be a screen that will come up as you are starting your profile. Click ok (I think) and then restore your computer to before you deleted steam |

I like the idea of steam, the way you'll get up-to-date files for the game, but I dont like the fact that sometimes, stuff get fucked up because of updates.
Steam aint shit, but sometimes, the updates mess things up. |

when you say ur mod had disappeared,,,
did you try and delete the clienregistry.blob file? If u re-install steam and then copy the whole steam folder over the top u need to delete that file and then re-run steam. backup the file before u delete it!! |
