you can't charge for a mod.
No install button, Valve wont let us on steamworks

was really hesitant to make that info public, hope squeek doesnt mind :/
but they gave a bullshit reason. I think the real reason is conflict of interest with TF2

I'm curious to know the reason as well. I doubt it's conflict of interest. They put Zombie Panic Source up on Steamworks 3 months before Left 4 Dead came out and that's had (and still has) a much larger playerbase than FF.

None of the reasons make any sense. Your mod needs a dedicated development team? Fortress Forever has a more dedicated development team than most of the mods on Steamworks. Your mod needs to have an active player base? That's somewhat redundant, because most of the mods on Steamworks are dead, and an active player base is one of the reasons people put their mods up on Steamworks anyway.
Conflicts with the interests of Team Fortress 2? I find that hard to believe. Then, they wouldn't have put the mod up on the Steam store anyway, because it's just a tiny bit less accessible in its current form, but still accessible through Steam nonetheless. And, as pointed out, there are quite a few games on Steamworks that conflict with major titles. Look at all the zombie games, for fuck sake. I think it's pretty pathetic if that were to be the case, though, denying Fortress Forever because it conflicts with the interests of Team Fortress 2. My respect for Valve would drop immensely, because I fucking despise people who try to kill competition in the market-place, especially when they seem to take a few ideas here and there from their would-be competition while in a state of immunity. For example, take a look at the new Spy knife in TF2 called Your Eternal Reward. It steals the disguise of whoever you backstab. It works a bit differently than the knife in Fortress Forever, but the concept is the same identity theft. Odd enough, I jokingly suggested these attributes on their forum not expecting them to use it (someone else mentioned the inability to disguise), but they did end up using them. Also take a look at the Dead Ringer. It functions similar to the loud cloak in Fortress Forever. It creates a ragdoll and feigns your death, allowing you to escape to safety. Of course, similar games, so the same ideas are going to be arrived at, so I don't know. Just something to think about. |

I cant think what else it is. They have let worse mods and unreleased mods on steamworks before. Maybe they just think we suck
